I'm not convinced that Ben's group knew they were coming at all...

Patchy definitely lead one to believe that they somehow have full biographies of all our Losties. Is it clairvoyance? Is it info being fed from some rich industrialist like Hanso? But I'm convinced that the others do know everything about the Losties.

Maybe it has to do with the time warp thing - although I really hate the idea of that concept. But maybe they've all been there before. I doubt it but you never know.

To me, this seems like the most logical explination. We know that they have nearly unlimited funding and resources to pull this type of data. The flight manifest is all that is needed to pull medical records. Medical records would definitely indicate Locke's previous paralysis

I agree with you...I hope the time travel doesn't play a significant role in the island mystery itself...it almost feel's gimmicky to me like all those lame horror movies where the person trying to solve how there husband/wife dies and it turns out to be them that is actually dead. If they are stuck in some weird time loop and have been on the island previously that would undermine the entire series. I WOULD like it if they found out that years have passed in the real world since they've crashed and the moral decision would have to be made to return to the real world or live out their life on the island. If they could work that out somehow that would be neat.

I never thought about that outcome, having the losties decide whether to return to the real world or not, after having found out that something like 2 or 3 years had passed for everyone else.....I like it!!! :)

Mikhail (aka Patchy) only knew about Locke. He didn't seem to know about Kate, nor Sayid. What Mikhail knew about Locke, might not have came from information that he got from the others ( I do not think he's still connected to the others, I think he's like Juliet, and was cast out) I think Mikhail might have known/or met Locke prior to their island meeting. Ben's group seem to know about all of them, because they might have gather data, once the survivor landed on the island.

Did you notice that Mikhail told Kate, and Sayid that they wasn't pick, because they wasn't on the list....well, if he was still connected to the others, he would know that Kate was on the list.

Patchy seemed to know a lot about all of them... he called Sayid by his full name, same with Kate... It was obviously implied that the Others have done background checks on all the Losties, especially considering the thick file they had on Jack.

As for The Others knowing they were coming, when we saw the plane crash from their perspective, Benry didn't say, "Ok, Ethan, go pick up the spinal surgeon I ordered". As a matter of fact, he told Ethan and Goodwin both to make lists, meaning they didn't know any of the names at that point.

As far as "The List"... I think you're confusing the short list of names that was given to Michael in Three Minutes and THE List, that was apparently compiled by Jacob and lists the "good people" on the island. The two lists cannot be the same because it's already been stated by The Others that some of the people on Michael's list are not good people.

Cameras. There were cameras everywhere in the security island. Wouldn't there be cams also around Othersville? Ever since the crash happened, they must have known that one day the Losties would find them.

Ben is smart and he must have "read" Kate. He must have known she would not give up on Jack.

Plus, and the latest explosion? Wouldn't the Others know and perhaps expect visitors? To believe that they will be "surprised" in their very own village... I doubt it.

Even considering the latest promo...
They ask "how many of you", but that can be a question to fool Jack also. Or they might be worried there may be a "backup team".

same here!!!!

in fact, the more i think about it, the more i am convinced ben's group had no clue the losties were coming! when we see the others in their village enjoying life, or whatever they were doing, and hear this plane, they all run out and see it flying overhead and crashing!?? ben gives the orders to go find out about the passengers , in somewhat of a panic! it was almost a panic/hurried/suprised type thing that was going on w/ the others! they didn't seem to know this was going to happen at all????

I was thinking that perhaps they intended to recruit Locke some years ago like they had Juliet because he had a skill set they could use. Or perhaps, his dad wanted to get him out of the way like it's suspected happened to Desmond. But his crippling accident or whatever happened to him put an end to that. Patchy might have been on his recruiting team just like Ethan was on Juliet's.

Another scenario is that Patchy was observing Locke in the Swan station via the video hook-up to either the Pearl or the Flame and learned a lot about him from that. Sayid and Kate weren't on "button duty" that often, as I recall.

Speaking of the Pearl, I wonder if Locke snagged enough C4 to take it out too.
