View Full Version : So... Jack plays piano BillToons 03-21-2007, 11:12 PM didnt know this waltisfuture 03-21-2007, 11:16 PM didnt know this Anyone know what he was playing? Could it have been the song him and Sarah played on the piano the night before their wedding? Sarah Mai 03-21-2007, 11:17 PM Well, we saw him play "heart and soul" with Sarah in one of his flashbacks before their wedding. Don't know if that counts :p It's not a hard one to learn. BillToons 03-21-2007, 11:32 PM Well... I may be wrong... but in last episode's thread i raised the question "Has jack turned? (so Jack is playing football)" i think he has now turned (with good motives)... or has he? BIG QUESTION. I think he has. ZoeWashburne 03-22-2007, 12:12 AM Nah, Jack hasn't turned. I think this episode showed that while he was working/cooperating with the Others, he was doing it for the benefit of the Losties. He told Kate he's doing it to find rescue for everyone and he'd come back for her. Also, in probably my favorite part of the episode, when Ben asked if he'd leave if it meant Sayid and Kate would stay in captivity, he said he wouldn't. He wasn't leaving for selfish reasons, he only wanted to leave to rescue the other Losties. So while he was using the Others' resources and therefore had to cooperate with them, his motives were selfless - he's doing everything to help the other Losties and therefore, he hasn't turned. As for the piano  Not to be a fangirl or anything, but that man is something else  Layla_V 03-22-2007, 02:59 AM Does anyone know what that song was? It was sad and so fitting for the scene. Chuckp123 03-22-2007, 03:04 AM That song was actually part of the score from the episode "Stranger in a Strange Land." It is only the piano part of the music that is playing during the montage at the end of that episode, when Jack and Juliet are on the boat, Kate and Sawyer are walking through the trees, and Carl and Alex are staring at the stars, etc. iamlost2 03-22-2007, 03:05 AM Does anyone know what that song was? It was sad and so fitting for the scene. It sounded a little like Jack theme song. The song they play whenever Jack thinks about Sarah,or whenever Jack cries. But it also sound like the song they played in Exodus (Part 2), when Michael,Sawyer and Jin left on the raft. I love that song. And I'm having a total girly moment here, but what is it with doctors and pianos? First House, now Jack. And DrShephard is a sight to behold when he's lost in the moment like that. quendi 03-22-2007, 03:14 AM I honestly had it pegged for "Lost in Space and Time" by Dvorak. I can find no references to this song online, so it may be titled something else. quangtran 03-22-2007, 03:27 AM That song was actually part of the score from the episode "Stranger in a Strange Land." During that scene I was wondering, "why isn't Jack playing one of Giacchino's Jack themes". Like the previous soundtrack song that was playing during all his episodes in Season one (eg, Win One For The Reaper). Turn out he's playing a new theme. Chuckp123 03-22-2007, 03:39 AM It sounded a little like Jack theme song. The song they play whenever Jack thinks about Sarah,or whenever Jack cries. But it also sound like the song they played in Exodus (Part 2), when Michael,Sawyer and Jin left on the raft. I love that song. Yeah, some of the chords in that song sound very similar to the Jack theme. Perhaps it is a variation of his old theme. BrandonHasTheKeys 03-22-2007, 04:20 AM And I'm having a total girly moment here, but what is it with doctors and pianos? Man, why can't I get reactions like that when I play the piano?! I can play better than Jack, and I'll be a doctor in June... ;) (Okay, not an M.D.) Layla_V 03-22-2007, 04:34 AM Yeah, some of the chords in that song sound very similar to the Jack theme. Perhaps it is a variation of his old theme. So that's why it was so familiar. It seems to be a somber variation of Win One For The Reaper, right? Man, why can't I get reactions like that when I play the piano?! I can play better than Jack, and I'll be a doctor in June... ;) (Okay, not an M.D.) Do you also happen to be Jack's identical and equally lovable twin? ;) workingmom 03-22-2007, 02:49 PM That song was actually part of the score from the episode "Stranger in a Strange Land." Tip of the hat to the prop department for that detail. BillToons 03-23-2007, 03:49 PM Thanks that's cool. I had no idea what the song could have been. I couldn't recall Jack playing a piano in a FB. When I first seen it I thought wow... from football to learning to wax poetic on the ivories in a short time. DoggoneLost 03-23-2007, 03:59 PM Thanks that's cool. I had no idea what the song could have been. I couldn't recall Jack playing a piano in a FB. When I first seen it I thought wow... from football to learning to wax poetic on the ivories in a short time. He was playing the piano in the hotel lounge they were staying at for his wedding ceremony. Sarah joined him in a duet for 'Chopsticks'. Hey_Freak 03-24-2007, 12:23 PM Yeah, some of the chords in that song sound very similar to the Jack theme. Perhaps it is a variation of his old theme. Wait! Jack has a theme tune? lol I never pay attention to the background music in this show I swear so I never notice when the music is the same or differet from episode episode?. I'm just so happy that they brought back the piano playing from his old FB. Hey, maybe his kite will make an island reappearance too. ;) heh JeremyBender 03-24-2007, 09:04 PM What a great scene, from the gorgeous music, to the way it was lit and the wonderful acting from Foxy and Evi. I loved how Jack's so engrossed in the music that he doesn't hear Kate sneaking in and then the look he gives her when he realizes that she came back. Wow. Claudia815 03-27-2007, 12:27 AM What a great scene, from the gorgeous music, to the way it was lit and the wonderful acting from Foxy and Evi. I loved how Jack's so engrossed in the music that he doesn't hear Kate sneaking in and then the look he gives her when he realizes that she came back. Wow. Indeed. The man is just as intense playing the piano as he is when he's trying to secretly murder Tom by forcing him to exercise and play football. Wait! Jack has a theme tune? lol A brand new one that was written specifically for him apparently (The Jack Show soundtrack ;)). The writers talked about this in the TMFT podcast and they said Matthew Fox doesn't play the piano but he learned how to play this song for the episode. He sold me on it. ;) Thanks to LoveFoxy for the podcast info! TabbyRasa 03-27-2007, 12:44 AM Good grief! Foxy learned to play the piano for this epi?!? I was transfixed by the emotion on his face and in his body language, while he played...and then, his delayed "return to reality" when he heard Kate approach. What an incredible actor... |
