Wasn't surprised in the least. I knew Cooper was on the island the moment Ben said, "Bring in the man from Tallahasee."

Still pretty cool though. :)

Actually I wasn't surprised at all since the whole FB was about Locke and Cooper. As well, Ben was talking about Cooper just before he opened the door.

That's funny because I said OMG twice! Once when he opened the door and once in the preview when it looks like Sun punches Sawyer! :eek1:

03-22-2007, 12:57 AM
We figured it would be him pretty quickly.. Like pen said, the flashback was about him, and alot of things pointed to it..

Still, when he opened the door and said "Dad?", I got goose bumps...

I was so excited for this episode that I went and got meself spoiled. So I wasn't suprised, but when I saw how insanely scared Cooper looked I chuckled! He was sweatin' bullets man!

Well, I was spoiled about this. But seeing John's reaction, then seeing Cooper and HIS reaction to seeing John, I still had a WHOA! reaction.

03-22-2007, 01:06 AM
No, I kind of figured by all tha Ben said and how the episode was going and the mention of this 'box' being able to conjure up anything that Locke would open the door and see Anthony there. I didn't think he would have been tied up though. What I said OMG for was how he got paralyzed, my mouth hung open for the longest while, even through ommercials, and I also said OMG when they actually SHOWED what was behind the door instead of leaving it as a cliffhanger :)

I also thought, geez, this is like when Walt (if it was Walt) typed "Dad?" to Michael back in Season 2.

Saukkomies
03-22-2007, 01:23 AM
No, I KNEW it was his dad, I swear! Back when Ben said earlier in the show "Go get the man from Tallahassee", I turned to my wife and said "They've got Cooper on the Island!" And she said "NO way!" ANd I said "Yeah, and not only that, but he's the real Sawyer!"

So when they were taking Locke to see something, I already was absolutely completely convinced that it was going to be Locke's dad. So, for me it was not an "O My Gawd" moment, but rather a "YES!!" moment!

lostgurl
03-22-2007, 01:28 AM
I definitely did. I'm SO GLAD that I wasn't spoiled for this one. I thought Locke getting pushed through the window was the big OMG ending, since it happened quite late in the show, I wasn't expecting another shocker after that!
Excellent!

I, too, had a few OMGs at the moment he became paralysed, but i deeply suspected that the man from Tallahassee was Cooper; it was no shock.

I said, "OMG" and threw my hands up the air. I also said, "Wheeeee!"

I kinda had a feeling it was him, though, but I still was a bit surprised.

As soon as Ben told him guess what came out of the box I knew it was John's father.

I wasn't surprised, because it seemed "right" to see Cooper there, but I really enjoyed seeing the looks on John & Cooper's faces. That was fun.

And yeah, seeing John fly backwards out the window was spine-chilling. When we saw him in the hospital with his bruised and battered purple face, I felt like crying for him!

Glad to see Cooper got a bit beat up...serves him right!

Didnīt say OMG because Iīve sort of figured out when he started the whole thing with youīre special to the island and stuff...

Plus heīd asked how Jonh felt when his own dad tried to kill him..

After that thought about the talahasse line.. Figured his dad would be in there

Lol, I certainly said loud "wtf ??!!" ; I sure got surprised ... But not by the fact Locke's father's on the island (I was actually expecting that) ; but by the fact that it's not what i thought "what came out of the box" would've been at all !!

I was expecting something really crazy, like ... I don't know ; an alien, or a weird statue with electromagnetic powers or a piece of unknown technology or something...

I was kinda disapointed when i saw that it was "only" cooper ; but hey, great scene nonetheless

As soon as Locke walked into his dad's apartment I was like, 'Locke's gonna get thrown off the blacony'. So it didn't shock me to see go through the window.

But when that door opened and I saw Locke's dad there I was like 'WTF'. I am still not entirely sure if I like that little plot turn.

As for the scene in the apartment before Locke is pushed out the window, my sister figured that one out, she had a feeling he was going to push him out that window!! How crazy is Anthony? I hope he get's what's coming to him.

piscescat
03-22-2007, 09:46 AM
I don't know why but when Ben said "get the man from Tallahassee" I was thinking Sawyer.

I screamed HS when Locke was pushed out the window... and my husband and daughter called out "what???" from the other room. (They were watching Star Trek cartoons.) They thought HS too when I told them.

Then we saw Cooper in the room. I kind of expected it would be him, but I didn't expect him to be bound and gagged and hurt. I thought he'd be there to menace Locke, but he's vulnerable now. The tables are turned, potentially at least. So yeah, I thought WTF when I saw Cooper in the room.

I can't wait for next week!!

AnalogKid
03-22-2007, 09:48 AM
I had no idea what would be in the room, but Locke's dad would have to be the last thing I was expecting. I was like...OMG!? :D
And yeah, lostlocke, they kind of telegraphed that he'd get thrown out of a window didn't they? Kind of like how they telegraphed that Juliet's ex would get hit by the bus because you could see one parked down the street. Still, it was intense.

Aggie00

Yeah, me too. It would have been more a OMG moment without that line broadcasting the reveal. If Ben had just taken Locke to a holding cell where they were keeping Cooper, then there would have been no need for Tom to "bring" anyone in -- but then they'd have to find a new episode title or get the line in another way.

Exactly! Like many of the others posting to this thread, I knew right from the moment Ben said "Get the man from Tallahassee" that he was talking about Cooper, and I was completely expecting to see Cooper behind that door when it opened. For me that was no surprise at all.

However, the OMG moment was just like you said: when Cooper pushed his own flesh and blood son out of the window. It was so sudden. That really caught me off guard. And that is great, because even though I can outguess some of the stuff in the plot, Lost still can shake me up once in a while with something that completely blindsides me. I love it!

I was totally expecting Cooper from a mile away so it didn't surprise me (I didn't read spoilers), but what did surprise me a little was that he was tied and gagged with a horrified look on his face. Vulnerable. Human. I NEED to find out what's going on there.

I didn't say OMG.

I said, That was interesting how the "box", is "smokie", and how the others made Cooper from the box. (That is not the REAL Cooper). The others control smokie... The others can read minds, which is part of the whispers....and from those mind readings can create images with smokie.

You're right about them not giving us any information about Cooper being from Tallahassee, but when Ben asked for him, I just had a feeling that Cooper was going to appear on the Island. So, I wasn't surprised at all. It wasn't based on anything we learned from the show.

OK, thanks! I know I don't remember everything about the show (since I usually only watch them each about twice), but it didn't seem like they'd said he was ever in FL...which is something I'd remember, since that's where I live.

But in this episode, we'd already seen 2 Locke flashbacks, one of which mentioned Anthony Cooper, and with Locke hiding in his closet Ben asks for the man from Tallahassee.

Still trying to figure out the meaning of the "box." The room that he was in didn't look all that special. If the box is a metaphor for an actual spot on the Island, I would expect it to be marked as a significant place.

I'm thinking it was just Ben trying to mess with Locke's mind some more. After all, Ben's been so successful with that so far.
I definitely didn't think the room Cooper was locked in was "the Box." If there IS an actual spot on The Island (which I doubt), I'm sure it's well hidden.

Until I get more info, I'm going to think that this "box" is another red herring from Ben's evil mind.

That's what I'm thinking too. That, or it's just a metaphor for the Island giving people what they really desire--as long as its good.

I might be understanding it wrong, but I thought the room was the box Ben mentioned. Am I having a "blonde" moment here?
Don't worry, you're not. I think that's what we were supposed to be lead to believe. My guesses are that the box is either
A: The actual room that Cooper was in and the whole thing about the box giving you what you want only applied to Locke at that moment.
B: It's an actual place on the Island where you can directly communicate with it.
C. It's a red herring. They got Cooper from somewhere and Ben is just messing with Locke's head.

I was more surprised when Locke was pushed out the window. I thought his paralysis would result from his father's actions but that he would have been beaten by goons, hit by a car, or shot.

When I saw AC in the room scared witless, my thought was, "Now what? Is Locke going to take his kidney back?"

yes I had an OMG moment. I had no idea that it would be his father. Then again right afterwards when the show ended because to me it seemed to be over so fast.
I OMG'ed when he went out the window too, also when he stood up after having his case suspened, I thought he had depression because of being in a wheelchair.
This was one of the best episodes yet.
