If Ben has been on the island his whole life with experience of the outside world ...would that mean that the masks on his wall were representing perhaps old "tribes" of island dwellers? perhaps Island dwellers with four toes?

The house seems like window dressing.......but the pictures on the wall did look like a young Alex.......hmmmmm

I just think that you would decorate with masks or artifacts like that if you somewhat of a connection or knowledge of their origin and it really could connect with the foot statue cause their have been people on the island "A very long time " before anybody else

Yeah, it was the pix of Alex at various points in her life that caught my eye! The man clearly loves his "daughter." Though being loved by Ben Linus is a rather dubious honor, to say the least! (And Alex knows it well!) :D

Excuse the query if there's already another thread on this somewhere, but wasn't there also a large star chart on the wall in Ben's house?

The masks are a metaphor for deception - quite appropriate for Ben's house, I think.
