View Full Version : Favorite Line Melissa 03-22-2007, 01:05 AM What was your favorite line? Mine was when John asked Ben how do yall have power? and Ben replied We have two giant hampsters running on wheels in our secret underground lair Irishcoda 03-22-2007, 01:21 AM "Dad?" After everything that man did to John, Locke could still call him "dad"! ame en peine 03-22-2007, 01:27 AM John: Man from Tallahassee..... What is that - a code? Ben: No John, unfortunately we don't have a code for "there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head". Although we obviously should. Save The Humans 03-22-2007, 01:28 AM All those are WONDERFUL lines! Let's add: "This might be more complicated than we thought" to them, OK? OK! lostnthesoutheast 03-22-2007, 01:31 AM John: Man from Tallahassee..... What is that - a code? Ben: No John, unfortunately we don't have a code for "there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head". Although we obviously should. This was my favorite! I loved Em delivery of it too. But, like others have mentioned Locke had some good ones too. OT: STH :) Glad to see you here tonight! Saukkomies 03-22-2007, 01:31 AM Mine was when the cops were interviewing Locke in the parking lot outside of his apartment. Cop: "Peter Talbot is worth 200 million dollars. So exactly what was he trying to sell by soliciting door to door?" Locke: blank look on his face... doh. waltisfuture 03-22-2007, 01:33 AM Your Alex....you look like your mother. You'd better watch your back Ben. Danielle is going to give someone 16 years worth of whoop-a@# LostLaura 03-22-2007, 01:33 AM The line about the code was hilarious. I also liked the homage to the "Got any milk?" line from last year with Locke's line "Got anything to eat?". Not as brilliant as the milk line, but nice throwback to show how Locke was now in charge (or so he thought....) Claudia815 03-22-2007, 01:38 AM Handsdown the hamsters line. Now THAT's a fandom shoutout (the Hurley making salad one was annoying, imo). lostmio 03-22-2007, 01:41 AM "The submarine is a complicated piece of machinery. You can't just press submerge". (as in "press execute", loved loved loved it!) SursumCorda 03-22-2007, 01:46 AM There were so many gems in this episode, but for me it was definitely the giant hamsters. Michael Emerson's delivery was excellent... so dry. He totally stole the show. threaded 03-22-2007, 02:03 AM Locke- I’d say I hope that box is big enough to imagine yourself up a new sub. Lost Illusion 03-22-2007, 02:19 AM I forget the exact line, but I liked Locke's response when Ben asked what made him think he knew more about the island than someone who's lived their entire life on it. lockesmithe 03-22-2007, 02:37 AM Too many funny lines for me to single one out. This is where Lost comedy really works for me--during tense situations. I highly prefer these type of lines over the more cutesy lines delivered in the absence of tension. Nice, tight writing instead of throwing out Sawyerism after Sawyerism, hoping some of them work. ToKyO 03-22-2007, 02:46 AM My favorite was when he said (I forgot the exact words) something along the lines of "Well,I hope there is enough room int he box to imagine you and the submarine"..lol Can someone help me out on the exact dialog? Sarah Mai 03-22-2007, 03:12 AM I forget the exact line, but I liked Locke's response when Ben asked what made him think he knew more about the island than someone who's lived their entire life on it. The line was "Because you're in a wheelchair and I'm not" It was my favorite line too. Layla_V 03-22-2007, 03:33 AM "But I will come back herefor you." Yes, I'm a stupid girl and I cried, OK? "You survived an eight-storey fall. Don't tell me what you can't do." I'm surprised nobody mentioned this re: Locke. I loved it. Those two were my emotional heighlight scenes of the season. jasoncountdown 03-22-2007, 03:48 AM The hamster line was my favorite, but I feel that Kate's "Hi" should be mentioned. Probably one of the best utterances of a single word this season, alongside Ben's "...Okay" (ATOTC, in response to Jack threatening Juliet's life) and Hurley's drunken "DUDE" (FBYE, said when Charlie gets his *** kicked by Desmond). Juliezgroovy 03-22-2007, 03:48 AM I think Ben's line about the hamsters was hilarious. Alaskabean 03-22-2007, 04:15 AM Not sure of the exact wording but when Ben opened up the door where they were keeping Locke handcuffed, Ben said something along the lines of "well, you've really done it now haven't you" Made me chuckle. thefill 03-22-2007, 04:29 AM The line was "Because you're in a wheelchair and I'm not" It was my favorite line too. yeah that was my favorite line molly1977 03-22-2007, 10:31 AM "Don't tell me what you can't do" Might be because Locke's "don't tell me what I can't do" is one of my all time favorites, and I think that he adopted that line from his physical therapist. Tachyon 03-22-2007, 10:48 AM i don't remember the word but when locke had the gun to ben's face and Locke was like "now, don't do anything stupid" and ben's first word to locke is just like "ok" haha. just how he said it imaaronsmom 03-22-2007, 10:56 AM "Don't tell me what you can't do" "Because you're in a wheelchair and I'm not" John: Man from Tallahassee..... What is that - a code? Ben: No John, unfortunately we don't have a code for "there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head". Although we obviously should. "This might be more complicated than we thought" Locke- I’d say I hope that box is big enough to imagine yourself up a new sub. when John asked Ben how do yall have power? and Ben replied We have two giant hampsters running on wheels in our secret underground lair There were just too many for me to pick a favorite. Some of them seemed like shout outs to the fans. And not one of them from Sawyer or Hurley...go figure. wannabef 03-22-2007, 11:19 AM "I'm sorry. No solicitors. I have a sign." That is a man who has been beaten down by the world! And in his typical Locke naivety, he thinks a sign is going to protect him from those who find him "amenable to coercion." The Great One 03-22-2007, 11:28 AM Locke to Jack: "Sorry, Jack..." <BOOM> pan to Jack's face..... EricNinden 03-22-2007, 12:22 PM And in his typical Locke naivety, he thinks a sign is going to protect him from those who find him "amenable to coercion." It was a polite way to say "Go screw, pal!" I don't think he meant that he thought the sign would protect him. He just didn't want to be bothered. Who can blame him? My favorites: Ben: "You don't have to aim the gun at me, John. I'll tell you where Jack is." Locke: "I'm not looking for Jack. I'm looking for the submarine." ---------------------------------- Locke: "Man from Tallahassee? What is that, a code?" Ben: "No John, we don't have a code for 'there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head', although obviously we should." ---------------------------------- Locke: "How did you get electricity?" Ben: "We have two giant hamsters running in a massive wheel in our secret underground lair." Locke: "Yeah, that's funny." ---------------------------------- Ben: "John, she's done enough. Let me take you." Locke: "I don't want you to slow me down." (Cold, John. ICE cold.) ---------------------------------- Locke: "I'm sorry, Jack." Jack: "Sorry for what?" *big explosion* --------------------------------- Locke: "I hope that box is big enough to imagine yourself up a new submarine." --------------------------------- Tom sees Kate getting her handcuffed arms back to the front of her. Kate (nervously): "....Ta-dahh...!" --------------------------------- Okay, I made that last one up, but that would've been funny. Distress Signal 03-22-2007, 12:56 PM Locke: "Man from Tallahassee? What is that, a code?" Ben: "No John, we don't have a code for 'there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head', although obviously we should." ---------------------------------- Ben: "John, she's done enough. Jack: "Sorry for what?" *big explosion* --------------------------------- Locke: "I hope that box is big enough to imagine yourself up a new submarine." --------------------------------- Those are my favorites from last night. Particularly about imagining up a new submarine. And yes, revenge is best served ICE cold. Guinevere 03-22-2007, 01:15 PM John: Man from Tallahassee..... What is that - a code? Ben: No John, unfortunately we don't have a code for "there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head". Although we obviously should. My very favorite line from last night. All those are WONDERFUL lines! Let's add: "This might be more complicated than we thought"... My second favorite line from last night because it's such a universal thing one could say about the Island and LOST. :) workingmom 03-22-2007, 02:38 PM Clearly the Locke & Ben Show owned last night's best lines. Great to see them needling each other again. "The submarine is a complicated piece of machinery. You can't just press submerge". (as in "press execute", loved loved loved it!) Ah! I hadn't caught the reference to the hatch button - thanks! Risabeth 03-22-2007, 03:47 PM How many kidneys do you have? molly1977 03-22-2007, 04:15 PM Tom sees Kate getting her handcuffed arms back to the front of her. Kate (nervously): "....Ta-dahh...!" --------------------------------- Okay, I made that last one up, but that would've been funny. That would have been priceless. :ntworthy: Tarkus 03-22-2007, 04:15 PM Several good ones in this eppy. Just a couple that haven't been mentioned yet: "I never really appreciated chicken until now." "You can stop pretending that you're disappointed in me. You wanted me to blow it up, otherwise you wouldn't have left the C4 in Sayid's pack." dm 03-22-2007, 04:20 PM these are brilliant. the hamster line was definately my fav. jennylee27 03-22-2007, 04:48 PM So many good ones! Eric, thanks for compiling. Locke: "Man from Tallahassee? What is that, a code?" Ben: "No John, we don't have a code for 'there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head', although obviously we should." ---------------------------------- Locke: "How did you get electricity?" Ben: "We have two giant hamsters running in a massive wheel in our secret underground lair." Locke: "Yeah, that's funny." These two were my favorites. Ben's dialogue was spot on last night. Kudos to authors Drew Goddard & Jeff Pinkner. Locke: "I'm sorry, Jack." Jack: "Sorry for what?" *big explosion* Just realized how much this mirrors what Michael and Ana said to each other - right before he killed her. :frown: BushRat 03-22-2007, 08:44 PM What was your favorite line? Mine was when John asked Ben how do yall have power? and Ben replied We have two giant hampsters running on wheels in our secret underground lair When Ben said that, I thought Holy ____! What if he's not joking?! How do we know that those are actually polar bears roaming the island?:eek2: pibbsneaker 03-22-2007, 09:18 PM I liked "AHHHHHH!!!!" when Locke was falling out of the building. jbowse2 03-22-2007, 09:43 PM All of these are good lines, but my favorite was when Ben said something about "breaking you back must have stung a little". pibbsneaker 03-22-2007, 09:47 PM Seriously, I thought "I felt my back break" was pretty good. It was really empathetic. Morrick 03-22-2007, 10:08 PM Oh, yes, many great lines, but my favourite... my favourite was when Jack and Juliet show up at Ben's place. Jack starts saying: JACK: Look, I know you don't owe me anything, but I need to ask you for one last favour. (pause) (BEN closes the fridge and turns) BEN: You don't knock? MarkKligman 03-22-2007, 11:11 PM when the doctor says to Locke "You fell eight stories and survived, Dont tell me what you CANT do!" ---"nobody tells me what i can't do!" - j.locke. scarlos16 03-22-2007, 11:16 PM John: Man from Tallahassee..... What is that - a code? Ben: No John, unfortunately we don't have a code for "there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head". Although we obviously should. Loved that one too!!!! There were also a couple of others, but I was glad to see there were still great lines without Sawyer in the episode. LostLaura 03-23-2007, 12:16 AM Just realized how much this mirrors what Michael and Ana said to each other - right before he killed her. :frown: Oh, sh**. I didn't even realize that til now. Thanks for pointing that out. How sad. :frown: Melissa 03-23-2007, 03:07 AM Oh, yes, many great lines, but my favourite... my favourite was when Jack and Juliet show up at Ben's place. Jack starts saying: JACK: Look, I know you don't owe me anything, but I need to ask you for one last favour. (pause) (BEN closes the fridge and turns) BEN: You don't knock? Yes I loved that line too! I rewatched it today and I don't think I picked up on it until today and it made me laugh. We need more episodes with Ben and his sarcasm. He was priceless delivering his lines. heyjude 03-23-2007, 08:52 AM Come on ladies: "I'll come back here for you" has to have made more of us turn to mush... I thought I was a Skater until that moment. jontarbox 03-24-2007, 01:31 AM The man in the closet line....Michael Emerson is great Desmundo 03-25-2007, 12:18 AM "I'm sorry. No solicitors. I have a sign." That is a man who has been beaten down by the world! And in his typical Locke naivety, he thinks a sign is going to protect him from those who find him "amenable to coercion." Totally, I loved Locke so much during that moment. He was so meek and cute when he justifies himself with "I have a sign." ZoSo 03-25-2007, 12:29 AM I liked [paraphrasing here] "That's why you're in a wheelchair and I'm not" I even did an ~Oh Snaps!~ when Locke said that to Ben... |
