No, it is not new. It is Matthew Fox's tattoo. It has been there since the first season.

It was there before, but I don't remember it being quite so noticeable. The first time that I noticed it was in A Tale of Two Cities when Jack is pulling on the chain hanging from the ceiling when he is locked in the aquarium. At that time the tattoo only appeared to be a cluster of stars or something.

Jack does have other tattoos on the under side of his arm that are less visible but I'm not sure it's far enough down to reach his forearm. I didn't notice anything new. I guess it's possible.

I saw it too. I'd never seen it before. Of course I've seen the tattoo that's always obvious but not all this colorful part. Here's a screen cap for the heck of it.

Thanks for the link....his forearm tat really stood out in a few shots from last nights episode. I couldn't remember if we had seen it before.

I think everyone's just paying more attention to his tattoos ever since SIASL.

They are probably praying that since that terrible episode only explained one part, that we won't have to suffer through another Jackback for each additional tattoo.

I never caught a glimpse of it until a couple weeks ago. I think the color filtering is different when we're in the others' camp. On the beach side they use warm filters so the red wouldn't be nearly as prodominent.

It was on his left forearm and had alot of red in it. ;)

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else...am I imagining things or did Jack have a new tattoo on his inner forearm during the opening football scenes?

I think it's a new tat for Fox but not Jack and they just fortgot to cover it up. In all his subsequent scenes it was missing.

Without looking at the caps from what I recall it looked like a heart with a dagger through it.

It seems that someone recently posted a screen cap from the Pilot showing the tattoo in question. I didn't recall it, but it was there.

Yeah, I noticed it, but then figured it was a continuity error when they never brought it up again. But it seems like a pretty big goof considering the big fuss they've made over the other tattoo. :shrug:

He had it in the pilot episode, though I didn't notice it at the time. I rewatched it two weeks ago after the suggestion that there was a clue about the pilot that no one had gotten, and while I was watching I noticed the tattoo while Jack was in the cockpit before the pilot wakes up.

Does anyone have any sceencaps of the Pilot Episode? I do not remember ever seeing this tattoo and I questioned the tattoo last night as soon as I saw it.

My husband noticed th thte tattoo was different also.....things that make you say hummmmmmm

I asked my husband about that as well and he didn't remember having seen this tatoo either. It really stands out and I think the makeup artist on Lost would have covered it up if it wasn't important to the story of Jack. It seems to me that he got this tatoo in the space of time it took to get to the barracks and get settled in. :shrug:

Matthew has had those tattoos since the show started, it's just that because of the location of it, we don't see it that much. It has always been there.

You can see this "new" tattoo in the pilot episode when he has his left arm raised over his head while inspecting the gash in his back, right before Kate stumbles upon him to sew him up.
