hey everyone, i just rewatched the episode tonight and noticed a very small tidbit of possibly meaningless or important information. in the scene where the detectives are with john in the hospital they say to locke "your father fled to mexico after your encounter, then he dissapeared. your father could be anywhere in the world i find the wording of that statement VERY interesting. now all we need to figure out is how someone can disappear and end up in "a box" .....god what a good show

Well, I think it means just what it says, and nothing more. Yeah, he could have immediately ended up on the island at that point, OR he may have ended up in Mexico where he was said to have fled before. I don't think the comment is specifically meant to insinuate that he was on the island at that point, because the detective would have no way of knowing that.

The detective wouldn't but the writers would, and I think that's Pete's point. It was a pretty cool line. It was a type of short-term foreshadowing.

Yeah....my wife actually caught that and called Locke's dad being on the island. That was an interesting clue there....

It may be that Locke's dad wound up on The Island shortly after Locke was paralyzed. So he may have been there around four years before Locke showed up. With the Others would be my guess (in a bear cage?)

Yes, I had the same thoughts as well.
... and couldn't help but wonder if they were real detectives or stoolies hired to get Locke off his dad's back.
Either way, it works that BadDad was already enroute to the island, or to some assignment for the island.
Since Locke has 3-4 more wheelchair years in front of him, there's still ample time for BadDad to go to Tallahassee. That's a big missing piece. We know Alpert, who was prominent last night, was in Florida just about that time (3 years pre-crash), It's coming together.
