What's the Mittelos guy doing there on the island? I thought he was in the US somewhere at Mittelos labs. Kinda weird that we've never seen him on the island until now.

Without the eye make-up from Not In Portland, I didn't recognize him. Interesting that he seemed like a servant, wheeling Ben around and all, yet when Ben was giving the whole "My People Trust Me So I Couldn't Go Back On My Promise To Jack" speech, he was there listening. Maybe he knows more than the others? Maybe there are those being deceived and those doing the deceiving? Besides Ben, I mean. Flotsam 03-22-2007, 06:27 AM Richard Alpert is "not in Portland". Exactly where he told Juliet she was going, in Miami. RodimusBen 03-22-2007, 07:49 AM Yeah, I think the thing to take away from that is that, just like Ethan, Alpert is an Other who goes around to the rest of the world recruiting people. After NIP I was relatively certain that Mettelos was a front for the Others, not Dharma. scooterbill 03-22-2007, 08:18 AM Yeah, I think the thing to take away from that is that, just like Ethan, Alpert is an Other who goes around to the rest of the world recruiting people. After NIP I was relatively certain that Mettelos was a front for the Others, not Dharma. do we know for sure that the others are not dharma ? For sure? I dont think we will be able to say that until we see someone that really is dharma and he is not one of Bens group. Flotsam 03-22-2007, 08:20 AM Without the eye make-up from Not In Portland, I didn't recognize him. Dearest LauraA, Nestor Carbonell has never worn eye makeup on "Lost", as far as I can tell. Look him up on imdb.com, or anywhere else photos of him are available. His eyelashes are thick and dark and naturally beautiful. I think he looks more or less the same in TMFT as he did in NIP. He might have a somewhat different haircut now. Heart, Flotsam. piscescat 03-22-2007, 08:22 AM Cool- I thought he looked familiar but didn't connect him with Mittelos. Duh! As Ben said, most of his people were recruited. I'd like to see how this whole thing got started, but that kind of info is probably not going to be revealed too soon. pacejunkie 03-22-2007, 08:43 AM I thought we were going to see that Alpert was Ben's boss. Turns out we still haven't met who Ben's boss is and Alpert is just another underling. Is Ben second only to Jacob? So Mittelos = Hostiles. I don't think they are related to Dharma exactly. More like rival schools of thought both fighting over the island's powers, trying to control them for their own ends. Lost in Hoboken 03-22-2007, 09:36 AM Well, Not In Portland was a few years ago, we also saw Ethan in that episode and he was back on the island so no big mystery that Alpert was on the island too. And to be someone who was allowed to come and go off the island to recruit he must be trusted by Ben which is why he was giving his speech to Locke in front of him. Plus in the meantime he played Luis on Suddenly Susan!! HoardingHurley81 03-22-2007, 12:18 PM When Locke was hiding in the closet with Alex, I got the impression that Benry was telling Mittelos to go get the man from Tallahassee. We never saw his face, but thats my guess. Any thoughts? bakerboys 03-22-2007, 12:28 PM It was Dr. Richard Alpert that Ben was talking to. We saw him later pushing Ben in the wheelchair. HoardingHurley81 03-22-2007, 12:43 PM Hmmmmm....that would mean that Mittelos is close by...right? shanzy288 03-22-2007, 04:44 PM I'm wondering if these Other's are able to take their "so called 'box' powers" off the island. If this is the case that means that when we saw Juliet's husband get hit by a bus and then seconds later Alpert the Mittelos guy come walking up, it's possible that he made happen what he wanted to see like with the "magic box." And then maybe - it is only these people who can be on the list - people who can access the "box" and make things happen with their mind (Walt with the Polar Bear, Kate with the Horse, Jack with his dad, Eko with his brother). Like believing is seeing. Eight 03-22-2007, 04:51 PM And then maybe - it is only these people who can be on the list - people who can access the "box" and make things happen with their mind (Walt with the Polar Bear, Kate with the Horse, Jack with his dad, Eko with his brother). Like believing is seeing. I think this goes well with the whole Law of attraction theory. The people you mentioned that have had the ability to have certain things happen to their advantage are pretty remarkable people with extremely strong wills. Take a look: Walt = some sort of sixth sense - was able to "astral project" himself elsewhere Jack = super surgeon with nearly miraculous touch - is "He who walks among us..." Juliette = Super Fertility Dr. - can make babies out of nowhere - asks for Ed to be hit by a bus and voila! Locke = Survives an 8 story fall - walks again after hitting the beach This show is starting to look a lot like "Heroes" without all the cliched, ripped off super powers from comic books. annieone 03-22-2007, 05:02 PM And, most likely, brought Cooper to the island. BudLostinWeedSmoke 03-22-2007, 05:54 PM i think mittelos was just the front for the others when recruiting in not in portland well he said they were not exactly in portland almost a little joke on the island (port-land) anyways also ethan was recruiting for mittelos either already having been to the island or just after meeting alpert redmaria 03-22-2007, 05:56 PM yes he was.and we saw his face in a later sequence.that guy seems to be wearing tons of eyeliner!i dig it! HoardingHurley81 03-22-2007, 06:07 PM Mittelos is mod...lol ShortRound 03-22-2007, 06:12 PM Mittelos isn't a person, it's the company (or front for the Others) that recruited Juliet. Richard Alpert represented Mittelos when recruiting her. Mittelwerk(?) (who you may be getting confused with) is a character from the Lost Experience, who seemed to head up the Hanso Foundation in Alvar Hanso's absence (not sure of the full details as I never really did the whole TLE thing, but it's probably on Lostpedia). redmaria 03-22-2007, 06:12 PM Mittelos is mod...lol even better,a goth freak!yeah!!! HoardingHurley81 03-22-2007, 06:19 PM Mittelos: "Im so apathetic. I hate everything because Im a nihilist." John_is_Lost 03-22-2007, 06:27 PM Ya it's him HoardingHurley81 03-22-2007, 06:30 PM Mittelwerk(?) Ummmm, no. AZJeepDude 03-22-2007, 06:34 PM So wait a minute -- the man from Tallahassee was the Dr, and NOT Locke's father? redmaria 03-22-2007, 06:36 PM i think we all call him ''mittelos''as a figure of speech,to cut it down ,not having to recall his full name etc..we all seem to understand each other ,so its perfectly fine by me.. 100% So wait a minute -- the man from Tallahassee was the Dr, and NOT Locke's father? What doc?I think it actually WAS Anthony,Lockes dad HoardingHurley81 03-22-2007, 06:43 PM So wait a minute -- the man from Tallahassee was the Dr, and NOT Locke's father? The man from Tallahassee was Cooper, Locke's father(or so they say, after all, he is a conman). The guy who went to get him per Benry's demand was Dr. Richard Alpert, whom recruited Juliet. Werthead 03-22-2007, 06:48 PM do we know for sure that the others are not dharma ? For sure? I dont think we will be able to say that until we see someone that really is dharma and he is not one of Bens group. The only people we've met (in Lost itself, not the Lost Experience) who are verifiably DHARMA are Kelvin Inman and Dr. Candle (who we haven't properly 'met' yet anyway). And we only know that Inman isn't DHARMA because the producers suggested in the podcast that the Others had never set foot in the Swan Station until Ben was taken there. redmaria 03-22-2007, 06:57 PM And we only know that Inman isn't DHARMA because the producers suggested in the podcast that the Others had never set foot in the Swan Station until Ben was taken there. we actually dont know whether Dharma and the others is one and the same or not AZJeepDude 03-22-2007, 06:57 PM The man from Tallahassee was Cooper, Locke's father(or so they say, after all, he is a conman). Well, that's what I thought, but it seemed some earlier posts in this thread stated that the guy from Tallahassee was the Mittelos guy (not Anthony Cooper). |
