If Locke doesn't want to leave the island, why can't he just choose not to leave? Same for Rose/Bernard and Kate who also have reasons not to return to the mainland. Why ruin other's options to leave? No one would force him to jump on board when rescue came. Was Locke behind the raft that was blown up too? Maybe it wasn't Walt.

Locke is a deperate man. Honestly, I think that he's on a distructive ramage. Perhaps the island is starting to control him. He's looking more and more like a man possessed when he's blowing stuff up lately. Last night he was doused in sweat and had evil in his eyes when he was confronted on the docks.

If Locke doesn't want to leave the island, why can't he just choose not to leave? Same for Rose/Bernard and Kate who also have reasons not to return to the mainland. The raft was definitely Walt, they even had a conversation about it and Walt explained to Locke why he set it on fire. As for Locke leaving, he doesn't want the island to be found. It's not just that he doesn't want to leave it. He is a man on a mission. When the sub blew up behind him and they showed Jack and Locke looking at each other I said to my sis, the feud is back!!! Jack and Locke are always butting heads and now I can't wait to see them go at it again!

Locke believes that EVERY ONE of the losties was brought to the island for a purpose. He does not want anyone leaving until their purpose has been fulfilled.

Locke believes there's more to their miraculous survival of the crash and that the island has a purpose for them. On the other hand, Locke seems to be much more selfish right now so I'm not sure how much he's actually thinking about his friends.
