View Full Version : Charlie making up with his past...
MinnieVanMommie 03-28-2007, 11:47 PM In our island, those who make up for their past, they die.
With all the honesty he is giving out, I hope he does something bad so he can start all over again...
God's tom 03-29-2007, 12:23 AM I was really impressed with Charlie having the courage to come clean with Sun! I hope he can redeeme himself with her.
Save The Humans 03-29-2007, 12:27 AM I think she'll be more inclined to forgive Charlie than James. Charlie wasn't the mastermind behind the kidnap plan (though he wanted to participate to get back at Locke); Sun wasn't the mastermind behind the poisoned water plan (though she wanted to participate to keep Jin from leaving on the raft). I think she'll be WAY more understanding of Charlie.
cylune 03-29-2007, 12:31 AM I've been waiting for a year for this to happen. I'm proud of him. I remember how freaked out he was at the end of The Long Con about 'Sun should never learn about this'. He told her herself. Good job Charlie.
ame en peine 03-29-2007, 12:32 AM Uh-oh. Charlie is taking steps towards redeeming himself. On this island, that tends to mean your time's up.
Melikon 03-29-2007, 12:41 AM I hear the tolling of the bell....or is it a fat lady singing? lol.
care_n_jim 03-29-2007, 12:45 AM I was thinking the same thing - that Charlie is fixing his past -
Sadly so is Sawyer by getting rid of the diamonds -
If they keep on that good path they are the next to die -
and considering Nikki and Paulo aren't dead -- we can bet someone will eventually die
SenatorKent 03-29-2007, 12:45 AM This scene was so sweet. I loved it.
LostLaura 03-29-2007, 12:46 AM I was proud of Charlie. He said what he had to say. And he meant it.
Good for him.
If that brings his death, who know? He sure has a lot of things pointing him in that direction anyway, you know?
penumbra 03-29-2007, 12:51 AM Maybe the reason Charlie is coming clean is that, even though Hurley instilled him with hope and the courage to live, deep in his heart he has resigned to his fate.
I hope not though. I would LOVE for everyone to expect Charlie to die, only to have him become the posterboy for "you make your own luck."
Considering they've placed him opposite of Locke in the past, who is an advocate for the belief in fate and destiny (at least he WAS,) I think this would make sense.
Plus, who wants to see Dom leave the show? He's far too awesome.
Save The Humans 03-29-2007, 12:53 AM I think the "redeemed = dead" theme of this show is being USED by TPTB to further red herring Charlie's "doom."
Therefore, Charlie's not gonna die.
lockesmithe 03-29-2007, 12:57 AM I agree with Save--no death for Charlie...wouldn't be the Lost way to forecast a character's death.
pacejunkie 03-29-2007, 01:09 AM I don't know what this will mean for my boy's future, but regardless I was really proud of him. He's the only one I know that can confess to an assault and make it sweet and cute. The way he said "I'm sorry" after Sun had already stomped away. It actually made me feel bad for him. With all that Sun has done herself, I would hope she would come to understand the things people do sometimes with the wrong motivation.
He really did feel bad for what he did, and I'm glad for his own sake that he came clean so he can sleep at night. Now he only has to worry about Claire or Jin finding out. I hope there are no serious repercussions on either front there. He confessed, they should all move on.
imaaronsmom 03-29-2007, 01:13 AM Uh-oh. Charlie is taking steps towards redeeming himself. On this island, that tends to mean your time's up.
Or does that mean that Desmond will be kept very busy running around the island trying to save Charlie?
I did love it when he came clean and told Sun. It took a lot of courage to do that. It's great to see Sun go after Sawyer for it, funny.
pacejunkie 03-29-2007, 01:21 AM I wonder if Sawyer will care that Charlie named him. I thought Charlie might try and keep his partner a secret (since he himself asked Sawyer never to tell anyone about his own involvement), but I guess he had to explain why he did it and everyone knows the gun con was Sawyer's so maybe there was no way around that.
lostgurl 03-29-2007, 01:27 AM I was happy to see Charlie own up to what he did. I also think it's another trick by TPTB, they expect us to think that Charlie is going to die, and they're working the redemption thing in there to make it look even more convincing.
Save The Humans 03-29-2007, 01:30 AM I think Sun's gonna be close-mouthed about this. (She may tell Kate, her poisoned-water co-conspirator, but that's it.)
pacejunkie 03-29-2007, 01:37 AM So what do we have so far with all these signs of death for Charlie on Lost?
Visions of death (like Boone, Shannon, Ana)
wearing a red shirt (Boone, Star Trek reference)
Presence of Vincent dog of doom (Vincent with Shannon, Ana)
Having a picnic with your girl (like Sayid/Shannon and Hurley/Libby)
Redeeming yourself (like Shannon and Ana)
Hanging around with Locke (like Boone)
Only thing left is to have sex with Claire. I don't know about you but I feel a great big anvil falling on my head. Are they possibly undoing every single death myth here with this one character? Is this one great big "gotcha"?
It better be.
SenatorKent 03-29-2007, 01:38 AM I think Charlie did it cuz he authentically felt remorse. I don't think it had much to do with his "impending doom".

or MAYBE they KNOW we'll think this and he really IS gonna die...hmm???
pacejunkie 03-29-2007, 01:41 AM I think Charlie did it cuz he authentically felt remorse. I don't think it had much to do with his "impending doom".
I agree he was motivated by guilt and remorse, especially seeing Sawyer's efforts to pin it on innocent people, but you can't deny Charlie's Catholic upbringing. He's been told he's going to die and has come close many times. He is standing there digging two new graves. He has to be thinking about the possibility of taking his secret sins to the grave and knows that would not be a good thing. He came clean both to ease his conscience and cleanse his soul.
RodimusBen 03-29-2007, 02:13 AM Well Paulo and Nikki sure weren't redeemed before their deaths, were they?
I too enjoyed that Charlie admitted it. But I also agree that Sawyer was more to blame. he took advantage of Charlie at a vulnerable time.
LostKitty 03-29-2007, 02:21 AM Oh, hurrah, Charlie! I am so proud of him for telling Sun. I truly hope that this isn't another step to his death. I like Charlie more and more all the time.
lostfan4ever 03-29-2007, 03:19 AM I really hope Charlie's redemption scene doesn't prelude his death. I loved that scene though. The only high point in a poor episode.
I really love that they finally dealt with this issue, and also that it was Charlie's decision to come clean about it. However, I really hope this isn't foreshadowing because the show just wouldn't be the same without Charlie. :frown:
I still don't think he's going to die, though. It just seems too obvious at this point.
