I just found that an interesting comment. Said to annoy Ben? Probably. Said because she means it? Probably.

I agree. I looked like she said it to annoy Ben. Maybe she likes Ben but Ben could care less? If so SHE may be the brains on the island and not Ben. I found Ben telling her that he manipulates people to be something a manipulator would not tell an underling but would tell a superior. Hmmm, Juliet may just be the person in charge of the Others.

Additionally, with Ben getting off on exploiting everyone's emotional investments, I'm now thinking of a few Hydra episodes a bit differently. I still believe that Juliet was sincere when she 'secretly' informed jack on a big notecard that Jack should let Ben die because 'some of us are ready for a change'. I also wonder just how much Ben's been testing Juliet's loyalty by placing her in close situations with Jack.

You're so right - it certainly was an awkward situation, and I can see her saying it in order to make light of a pretty sketchy situation.

I do think though, that the tension between Juliet and Ben is palpable. Remember how annoyed she was at The Others book club?

Hahaha! She could have said something even more awkward like "Yes, with him we shall produce many beautiful offspring to take over 'America's Next Top Model' and eventually... the world!"

Maybe Juliet is playing some mind games of her own... making Ben jealous.

Call me crazy but my first impression of the comment was as if she was saying it to Ben as if Ben was gay. I know there are lots of comments and theories that the first gay person is coming out. Perhaps its Ben. Juliet knows that Ben is gay and so as a friend she says to Ben "he is cute"

Something comes across as gay with Ben. I wonder if she is poking fun at Ben - her own way of exploiting his personality.

My first thought upon hearing that comment was, "who wrote this episode? A classroom of sixth graders?"
