Yeah, you'd think after 84 days, minus the few he was on the small island, he would know at least their names. But I think this speaks to something the writers have been trying to convey - that the Losties aren't all that united. Just because Jack warns them that they need to "live together or die alone" many still choose to keep to themselves for various reasons.

That should give us all pause as to wonder how trusting we would be of a bunch of strangers even after a couple of months stranded together on an island.

Well it was also an in-joke to people who didn't like that Pikki were just suddenly introduce.

Lost started out with a huge cast and some extra's. Unfortuantly the writers centered on the more favorite characters and left out the other actors ( character actors). Now its season three and the writers need to tie up loose ends. Enter some new characters who are for whatever reason not well thought of and the writers craft a method to Expose (caret missing over the e) then in a grudging way kill them off exit Nikki and Paulo story and exit more actors to lower an already bloated budget.

What is confusing is who was the Gay character?????????????????

I think it could be said, that the reason Sawyer has no idea who pikki is, is because they weren't around camp that often. They were out looking for their diamonds all the time.

I know people are saying it's Boone because of Shannon's comment about "flirting with random guys", but Boone and Shannon had sex, so he's not gay. *shrug*

Sawyer is the gay character. He has to be. It's the only possible explanation for him not knowing who Nikki was.

To throw a bone at some viewers they could have used another character.. But not sawyer.

We are in the same frequency here... something is definitely weird...

I mean if it is a shoutout to fans, why do it over and over again... it is more like the writer are emphasizing on a theory that will be revealed in the future.

Even if Pikki are constantly being in and out of the jungle for the whole of the 80+ days, James would still somehow knew them...

He could probably not know their name or background, but he will still recognize them enough that asking "WHO are you?" will seem ridiculous on the surface.

Exactly my point I dont think Sawyer not knowing who they were was more than a nod to fandom. Sawyer has said the same thing in previous episodes. I really think something is up with the timeline ala Desmonds flashes. I wasn't sure last night but today, I am convinced something definetly is happening with the timeline. The way this episode was shot...very disjointed was strange, and then the way it just ended...bizarre..
