They're listed as season's regulars, and if this was their only episode then I see no reason why tptb would bring them on at all. The only new thing we got was Ben and Juliet in the Pearl, and we could get that in a Juliet flashback. I think they're alive - I don't know how, though. Hmmm...:undecide:

TPTB promised us if we were patient all would be explained. They said that Pikki would have a big payoff when their stories were revealed. I'm still waiting to find out what the big deal was.

Nope, they're done. I think this was just TPTB's way of poorly attempting to cover up a mistake. I kinda doubt they'll even be mentioned again after this episode.

Sorry, I still think its possible one of them could have survived, if for no other reason than . . . on the podcast D&C have STRONGLY hinted at Mikail not being dead- and he was zapped by an electric fence! If he can survive that, maybe they can survive this?

I'll be curious to hear what they say on the podcast. If they say- 'of course they're dead' so be it.. . .but if they beat around the bush, there's no telling what will happen.

The spoilers I read had Paulo dying by a different method, so maybe that's still in the stars for him.

They are dead, I think it was obvious. They were buried alive. Its what the island demanded. They were murderers while off the island. On the island they got what they had coming to them. Although I will admit that their deaths was a little dark-sided, even for Lost.

PIkki got what was coming to them in an Edgar Allen Poe kind of way. Yes, it was creepy. Yes, I hope they stay dead. It's very dark humor and I'm just sick enough to kind of like it. It would be anti-climactic to bring them back, but anything's possible. Vincent will probably dig them up.

I liked the episode, but it seemed mostly pointless, so I'm a little puzzled by all the prior hype from the podcast.

And, I still hate paulo and nikki. R.I.P... Please.

I would have said they are done with until I remembered the scene of Paulo with Locke, where Locke tells him that nothing stays buried at the beach. Why was that scene included in the episode? I hope this is not the case and they are done with, though, because unburying Paulo and Nikki will logically mean unburying everyone else that has died and been buried at the beach.

They are alive, at least one of them, and Vincent will dig him or her up! might be completely wrong but with locke saying nothing stay buried on this island and Vincent taking of the blanket from them I just think is not the end of them... i suppose we have to wait and see..

The only suspense came when Nikki opened her eyes. For a moment I thought Hurley or Sawyer would see her and realize they weren't really dead.

But they were buried alive. Even if they became un-paraylyzed I don't think they would have been able to breathe and crawl out of the hole, especially with all the sand on top.

Thankfully I believe they're dead for good.

I think they're gone for good, but I won't vote, because it's not a "Yipee!" for me. I though both characters had a lot of potential, especially after last night episode. It would be a real shame if TPTB changed their plans for these two characters because of a few disgruntled "fans".

Pikki are liars and manipulators and as a previous poster said, the Island dealt with them appropriately. I'll be PISSED if they turn up alive.

If you tied me down and poured a bucket of sand over my face, I'd suffocate to DEATH, which is basically what happened to Nikki and Paulo. They might have been able to dig out if they weren't paralyzed for so long.

They were buried in a very shallow grave with loose beach sand. They are basically not much more buried than you would do for fun at the beach... (leaving you head exposed of course). I give strong odds they are coming back.

Paulo has a purpose too. Remember Locke and Eko when they found the pearl hatch there were cigarette butts next to the chair? They made a huge point of showing Paulo's addiction to smoking. I figure he found smokes in the Pearl and would go there regularly to have a puff or two out of sight of Nikki. No telling what he may have seen on those monitors while there. Yes this is very possible indeed.

I think at least one of them is a goner. Probably Nikki, based on her new pilot... and also because Ausiello said that there was one death last night (not two).

But.... I feel like after the "8 hours" of paralysis are over, you can't be restored to perfect health. Like at the 8 hour mark, I am doubting that they will be able to JUMP UP and dig their way out just like that. I think it's possible... but I think it's more likely that they will suffocate before they get the chance.

I like the way you think! I totally forgot about the cigarette butts! I'd laugh so hard if he found a caron of Dharma smokes in the pearl! They make beer don't they? Why not smokes! Anyway, this would explain why Paulo would leave the diamonds there when he knew the others were coming and going from the pearl. That really bugged me. What if the "others" had plumbing problems and looked in the toliet tank? The cigarette butts would at least say he was coming back to check and make sure they were still there. This all could be shown in a flashback though. If they are dead I really don't know what the purpose of their story was?

I have no real medical education but I think it's well know that the lungs supply oxygen to the blood and the heart pumps it to the rest of the body for the muscles and such to use. The slower the heart pumps the less oxygen needed. I believe this is how some people who fall into icy water can survive long periods of time without breathing. The heart and the body basically shut down to the most minimal levels needed to survive, therefore little and even no breathing (intake of oxygen) is required.

I think Paolo is well and truly dead (many many spider bites) but we may or may not hear something more from Nikki (single bite).

If she does manage to claw her way out, will she go back to camp or hightail it for the jungle or Otherville? That one's a survivor.

I did have a thought that Sawyer came back right away, for the diamonds of course and found them fighting to dig through for air ... but that would be just plain stupid :rolleyes:

I don't wanna be buried in a Lost sematery... Dead, dead, dead. They serve no other purpose now. l Nikki and Paulo are now making company to A-L, Libby, Eko, etc.

I think they're dead, but the Losties will find out what's happened to them one way or another.
