No, you're not slow. :) I think we were meant to think Hurley got it right so we wouldn't guess the ending too soon.

Nice catch. I didn't even think of that until you mentioned it!

i think it was also a pre-emptively written nod to fans wondering if Mikhail was about to say 'paralyzed' before Rousseau interrupted him.

Yes I concur that she was trying to say paralyzed.

In my opinion, yes - sorry!

I figured it out about five seconds BEFORE we actually heard clearly what she'd said, and I seriously thought I was way behind everybody else!

Yes, that was the twist.. All along we're thinking it's "Paul lies" because the guy's a scoundrel, a murderer.. But the spider-bite shows that she's begging for someone to hear that she's "paralyzed"..

Did it seem to any of you that the second time we saw the scene, she was deliberately made clearer than the first? The second time, I picked up what she said immediately, and I don't think it was just because I had a better frame of reference to what happened to her.

I always thought Paulo was the evil one, and that Nikki was just plain whiney. Apparently Nikki was the one evil one, and poo Paulo was just in love.

I thought that too, but will have to watch again.. It could just be that we now have the knowledge that she is in fact paralyzed, and that's influencing what we hear..

I thought so too. I'm guessing that that was a surprise for all of us. Paolo seemed like an arrogant jerk for most of the season and Nikki seemed like she was just on the sidelines wanting to be more involved. But she was cold as ice and he was in love. A different perspective on them both.

Definitely she said Paralyzed. Too bad it sounded slurred, maybe they could have lived if she ran to tell someone she was paralyzed and not dead, rather than burying the diamonds first. Her priorities were really messed up!!

Pretty cool the way this episode references the Par Avion episode two weeks ago, with the word paralysed cropping up but being misheard again. I thought it was a cool little reference.

Guess no more Paulo toilet jokes anymore for anyone lol, they actually came up for a reason why he did that, too bad...haha

you are absolutely right. It make sense for Nickki to have said that as a clue for the losties, so they didn't think she is dead....

Too bad for her...poor poor nikki...

I am sure it was said more clearly the second time than the first. Even the closed capitioning does not indicate that she says paralyzed.

This is a television show, not a conversation between TPTB and the viewers!! Why do so many people think every line in the show is a nod to the fans? :)

It was definitely said more clearly the second time. The first time the captions just had a few syllables, but it actually gave the words the second time around.
