In WTCMB, Sawyer and Kate dove off the rocks just for fun. Why in the world didn't Paolo just swim out and then dive under to see what he could see? Why climb all the over to the other side of the pond, dive off and then swim over to the wreckage??!! It didn't seem to make sense either time I watched it. I guess they just needed a "beauty shot" or something. :shrug:

LOL I didn't read anything literal into it but I did wonder if I was missing something and I guess I did since the dive would take him deeper quicker than just swimming out. Livin' and learnin'. :)

Exactly. You can hold your breath longer diving from a higher surface because you get deeper into the water - and that's the destination - in less amount of time than you can if you simply waded in, took a deep breath and dove, kicking your legs like mad. You also expend less energy.

And it looks cool, too.

True... I just hoped it wasn't the only reason they had him dive like that and, it turns out, there was another good reason. Deeper faster... :)

The producers decided that since they are killing him off they might as well give the girls something to drool over.

If they had opted to let them live they would have just filmed him getting in the water and diving down.

I thought of that too, velvet, but it seemed to fit at the time I was watching it better than the rock dive. Now I know there were other reasons. :)

Because if you just jump in you wont go very deep and he had to go to the bottom to find the bag, AND he just looked really HOT when he did it
