Not much...he was drinking like crazy, asked for another, and the stew gave him a paper instead. He saw something in there that made him cry. (It has to be that someone that he loved died.) He tore it out, then the next scene was him leaving a msg on someone's answer machine, then he stopped his car on the bridge, climbed to the top, and then there was the big explosion.
