I heard two new Smokey noises. One was when Juliet and Kate were being chased, which was a noise that sounded like something alive would make, and the other was a hissing sound when it ran away from the sonic fence.

I definately heard an elephant before I realized it was the smoke monster.

I thought I heard the same clicking noise that I heard right before the spiders came and bit Nikki --- a click click sound

But I mean new ones. I guess it does sort of sound like an elephant. So there's 2 new noises.

The hissing noise has always been there when someone has encountered Smokey (unless you're referring to a different sound that I am) It sounds almost like a rattlesnake type sound...

I did though hear a sound I had never heard before...and it was a clicking noise that sounded like the clicks you would hear when adjusting a dial or something...

That is what I heard too - and the same as when the spiders came - not a new sound this week -

I didn't notice any new ones, but it does have quite a few sounds that we've heard before.

One of the sounds, to me at least, sounds exactly like one of the boars.

the first time smokie sounded more bellowing and
less mechanical.

the second time smokie exhibited a more hurtful
then frustrated sound. it could have been hurt
by the fence. almost like it was a sentient* being.

i thought i also heard it whine or cry after touching
the fence.

also, it looks like it is capable of splitting apart and
coming together again. have we seen that before?

i didn't notice a face or "head" part either.

I've always heard a sort of growling / animalistic sound in the monster.... Also clicks like a roller coaster ascending to the top slowly - or a large chain hoisting something up on a winch.. And steam venting like an old steam turbine locomotive..

Smokie rules the island being created long before Ben was born on the island. Smokie ccould be from another society who are either still alive living in an underground location or now extinct with smokie still existing to keep the island safe from invaders who are unfit to live on the island.

The fact Cerberus makes noise has to be a significant clue. If it was *just* a security system or "executioner" it would be more logical if it was completely silent, but it isn't. I also think whatever the swarm consists of is probably much larger than shown so far. It's possible the entire underbelly of the Island is full of whatever Cerberus is.

I like the old-fashioned Monster noises from the first few episodes. Hearing them makes me nostalgic.

What I heard was the ROAR that I haven't heard since the pilot episode. (Or did I miss it since).

The lack of a roar over the past 3 years has made me think that there were actually two "monsters", one smoke and one like a living beast.

Now I know that they're one and the same.

I think where people are getting confused about "new" sounds, is the fact that Smokey doesn't make ALL of his sounds EVERY time he appears. There's probably some rhyme or reason to it, but I can't figure it out.

This is a little off topic, but I've been thinking almost the same thing. Last night I came up with the idea that Smokey is a cloud of magnetically charged metal particles that is either a natural phenomemon (maybe life form) special to the island, or is a human manipulation of the natural magnetic features of the island. I'm not sure where I'm going with this yet, but its just an idea that's been swimming around in my noggin'

There was definitely at least one new sound this time, but I'm not sure if it was smokey or the bandit, er, the sonic death fence that made it - when it tried to cross the fence-line and was repelled there was a really low clear sort've tuba-like bass blast, as loud as I had the sound cranked last night it totally shook the room haha.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be the sound of the, uhm...Sonic Death Fence...lol. I seem to remember it making a low hum when Mikhail got caught in it while it fried his brains (supposedly). I think that the low tuba blast sound last night was that same hum, only amplified because Smokey is quite a bit larger, and problably pushing against the sonic barrier with more force than Mikhail, who just stopped and succumbed to it.

I heard that roar for what I think is the first time last night. Very akin to Godzilla... Also, the pained sound of running into the fence barrier. Definately new stuff from Smokey McSmoke.

It seemed to me that they confirmed last night that the mechanical & carnivorous dinosaur sounds are both attributed to Smokey. And the clicking noises have always reminded me of Predator too!

That was cool! That hissing noise was definitely a new sound too. After it hit the fence perimeter and retreated, you could just feel that ole Smokey was pissed off!

I don't think the Predator angle is so far off. One of the things Predators can do is expertly mimic (or at least reproduce) human speech and other sounds). That seems to be a characteristic of Cerberus, which is probably why it makes sounds that are familiar to us. Whatever Cerberus is, it's probably come into contact with lifeforms like lions, elephants, dinosaurs, etc over the centuries, and thus has a storage bank of sights and sounds that it can manipulate.

I also think it sounds like the Predator at times, it really sounds like a whole zoo of animals and mechanical noises. I thought I heard chains being dragged. :undecide:

I think the sounds it makes is key, because that can give us an idea about not only how old Cerberus is, but also what it's come in contact with on the Island. Rose said she thought it sounded like the elevated trains, well there's probably some network on the Island that operates like a train, probably underground.

on first listen I noticed 3 new sounds

1. spread throughout, there's this hybrid noise that sounds like a cross between a horn and a human cry, it's a relatively short short and not the long wailing sound we've heard since the beginning

2. the flashes of light when it's focused on Juliet are accompanied with a scratching sound

3. at the end when smokey hits the fences, there's this digital bubbling noise, that's more subtle, it's not the low gurgle growl sound.

Right then, while it's "looking" at them (assuming we were seeing things from Smoky's point of view) there are several large clicking sounds I had never heard before...the only thing I could think of was like, a large dial being adjusted like on a amplifier or something...or the clicking sounds you would hear when adjusting the power on a microscope.... anyone else hear it?

He never did it in Season 1, and the noise in the Pearl hatch was the horn noise.

it took forever for someone else to mention it but imo, Smokie's wail sounds most like a T-Rex from the Jurassic Park series, its the only thing i think about when he arrives.....his accompanying sounds are another thing but his wail is what made people think in season one the survivors ran into dinosaurs
