View Full Version : Fence access numbers
Did anyone see the numbers that Juliet entered to control the fence? It seemed like they showed her punching some of the numbers but I didn't catch which ones exactly. Probably not important at all... but maybe there's some relevance of the code.
Halcyon 04-05-2007, 12:43 AM I rewatched it in slow motion, and I got the distinct feeling she typed in the Numbers. But - we couldnt see every key she pressed, so I can't say that with certainty...just what came to mind first :)
care_n_jim 04-05-2007, 12:45 AM I would definately like to know the answer to this one!
South Shore 04-05-2007, 12:50 AM I was also curious as to just how many fence posts house a keypad.
Jealous_Guy 04-05-2007, 12:51 AM It looked like the last two numbers were definitely 23. Hang on a sec and I'll run back the DVR.
Yeah, the #'s you do see her put in are 1623.
Tachyon 04-05-2007, 12:58 AM i thought the last one was 3, but the one before it i distinctly remembering that it wasn't a 2 b/c it would be right next to the 3. can anyone verify that they actually saw a 2?
shootfire 04-05-2007, 01:05 AM I saw a 23 when I went back to look immediately after the show. I only watched once because we didn't get to see what came after the 3.
lostgurl 04-05-2007, 01:08 AM I only picked up the last one being a 3. I think it would be fitting to have the numbers be the code since they were also on the outside of the swan.
Saukkomies 04-05-2007, 01:10 AM I was also curious as to just how many fence posts house a keypad.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing too! And if so, what else is going on all over the place that we have no knowledge of?
care_n_jim 04-05-2007, 01:12 AM So was it definately a 2 followed by a 3 making it 23?
PapaThor 04-05-2007, 01:39 AM good catch on the numbers for the code.
did you notice that she knew exactly which
post to go to and what to do next?
note: the numbers only open the box.
it's the turning of the switch that
turns the fence on or off.
Tramp 04-05-2007, 01:50 AM It was definitely 1-6-2-3.....the numbers return!
dvd32355 04-05-2007, 01:54 AM Why am I not surprised!!!!
The numbers are always significant.
But will we ever know why?

I hope so! Or maybe it's just a big fan "con".
There was a 4 in the license plate of the car, too.
allergygal 04-05-2007, 03:28 AM It was definitely 1-6-2-3.....the numbers return!
I just rewatched in slow-mo and that's what I saw too. 1623.
penyours 04-05-2007, 03:29 AM that's interesting, so presumably Ben knows the code as well, perhaps`that is why Ben seemed to know the numbers already when Locke told him in Lockedown
Space 04-05-2007, 03:47 AM Yes, the last 4 numbers were 1623. Also, it sounded like 7 numbers were punched in and the only number keys with mud on them (supposedly from Juliet's muddy fingers, or just from being pressed so many times by the Others) are 1,2,3,5, and 6.
This is evidence that the 7 digit code consists solely of these 5 numbers.
LostApril 04-05-2007, 03:51 AM YAY!! NUMBERS!!! So glad they have made an appearance again....
off to the numbers thread.....

Weren't the numbers explained in The Lost Experience?
So if the numbers are the code to access and control the fence... why haven't the Others changed them. They clearly know that the Losties know the numbers. If they found one of those boxes, they'd obviously enter the numbers into it. Just seems dumb to allow basically anyone who's been on the island for the last however many days to be able to access the fence controls.
timelost23 04-05-2007, 08:09 AM I'm as big a fan of the numbers as anyone else, but as an access code for the security fence? Really? So anyone with a radio listening to the broadcast, and half a brain, would be able to gain access. If securing the area against people is the purpose, that's probably the worst code that could be chosen. Now, if the fence is to keep out smokey...well, that's another story.
khopzilla 04-05-2007, 08:15 AM The fact that Ben & Co. didn't change the codes for the perimeter fence kinda cements the fact that Juliet is still in cahoots with the others. To me, at least.
middlenamewayne 04-05-2007, 08:24 AM Weren't the numbers explained in The Lost Experience?
According to an interview with one of TPTB that I recently read:
a) Yes, the numbers were explained in The Lost Experience.
b) The explanation in TLE was definitely intended to be "canon" to Lost overall.
c) However, it was not - and will not be - included in the show, because...
d) ...unlike the fans, the characters don't CARE what the origin of the numbers is.

Tachyon 04-05-2007, 09:26 AM ^ i would think hurley would care

I was thinking that too when I posted, but that's the way I recall the interview. I'll dig out the magazine in a bit and if I'm wrong I'll buzz on into edit mode!

Correct me if I'm wrong here but all I've heard of the numbers being the code is 1623 for sure...not the other numbers...??
Also if the fence is on...then no one outside the fence can gain access because the number pads are inside. Ok granted, now that the losties know what the fence is and can climb over that's different but then I'm guessing that's why the others are leaving.
1dimpleonly 04-06-2007, 07:11 PM I don't think the Others would leave Othersville because the Losties know the code to the fence. They would just change it.
I still think the numbers are the Valentzi (sp.) Equation, which is supposed to predict the end of our planet, as we know it.
I remember, very early on, one of the writers mentioned the number '23' as being very important to the series,...but that was two seasons ago, and you know how they leave ends hanging.
island hottie 04-06-2007, 07:28 PM Two seasons ago, we hadn't yet embarked upon The Lost Experience, and the numbers had not yet been explained as being the formula for the Valenzetti Equation. At that time, all we knew is that they were Hurley's numbers, and they had something to do with the island somehow. 23 would have been significant to the show at that time because a) the reward for Kate's capture was $23,000 and b) 23 is one of the numbers. Of course, it's become much more complicated since the early days when we didn't even know anything at all about Alvar Hanso and the Valenzetti Equation. So, I don't think any ends were left hanging. I just think we had much more to learn at that time.
Ahh, remember the good ol' days, when we were all still trying to figure out what the hell was going on? lol
