Okay, maybe it's me...

A few weeks ago, Patchy was whacked when Locke pushed him through the sonic fence's pylons.

Tonight, we saw Juliet trap smokey within the sonic fence - and smokey disappeared.

If logic holds, shouldn't smokey be "dead" now? This means the island shouldn't have a security system...

Smokey didn't die, he just flew back into the jungle.

Really? I though smokey got trapped in the fence...gotta watch again.

I think it was like a wall to it, and he just ran into it.

Maybe Smokey didn't touch the fence - it stopped because Juilet put the code in and it knew to stop and just threaten them to get Kate to trust her -

Not knowing what Smoky really is, we dont know how it would affect it. The sonic fence apparently is lethal to humans, but not to Smoky. I dont think its a fault in logic, just more clues in to what Smoky is.

It's like an invisible fence used for dogs. There is something in the nature of Smokie that 'activates' whenever it touches the sonic wall, and keep it from going any further...

I don't think smokey was trapped, it looked like he ran into an invisible wall when he got to the gate. He just couldn't go through it.

As silly as it sounds, I was under the impression that Smokey got hurt trying to go through the fence.

The fence emits an electronic frequency that when humans go through it jumbles the intenal frequencies of the brain causing massive hemorraghing , ala "Patchy". Since the Monster is an Electro-Magnetic creation, Its frequencies get distorted, and it can't go through the fence.

Smokie crashed into the fence, recoiled and moved back into the jungle. Juliet inferenced that the others didn't know what smokie was either. I don't think the fence was to repeall smokie more to kill invaders (human or animals)
