Who was really the better fighter in this ep? While Kate did give Juliette a big beatdown later in the ep, that early scene was put there for a reason, and I think the reason was that when Juliet doesnt have time to think about it, her reflexes are ninja like and deadly. This leads me to think that maybe she let Kate push her around a little bit to help her cause or whatever. Not entirely sure though. It could also have to do with whatever hand Juliet or kate is when they were cuffed and unable to use it.
Right now my vote is Juliet. What do you think?

I voted for Kate simply because I could hardly decide and Kate has shown to be strong in the past. We aren't positive about Juliet's capabilities yet but she seems tough to me so far.

WOW, is all I can say. I know my husband was getting into that whole mud scene. Juliet ain't no b*tch. I was impressed. And I thought Kate was tough. (Although I still have a girl crush on Kate.)

Juliet did knock Kate on her butt once, but Kate also her wrists chained together, had eaten nothing, and slept on the floor for 24 hours. This was after being kept in a cage and only fed fish biscuits for 2 weeks, made the strenuous trip back to the beach, only to leave right away on a trip to Otherville. She still kicked Juliet's butt and dislocated her shoulder after all of that. Juliet may know some martial arts moves, but to me, this is no contest. Kate hands down.

The fight move Juliet did to Kate at the begining of the episode clearly showed that she has some special training. Besides, any fertility doctor can be a black belt, too;)

Juliet - When Juliet thought her posision with the Others was reasonably secure, she knocked Kate flat on back. Out in the jungle, Juliet was trying to get into Kate's good graces. I think Juliet let Kate win the second fight to gain Kate's sympathy and appear less threatening.

I don't know who was the better fighter. But I was a bit suprised that ABC (knowing it the way we do) didn't mention about the mud-wrestling in the previews.

"Next Wednesday....this jungle....will rumble!" was the proclamation from preview we saw at the end of last week's episode. But there was nothing like, "with handcuffs...and MUD!!!"

Someone may have lost a job with that little omission. :frown:

I don't know. I look at them as one of the matchups in Street Fighter (remember that game?). All the fighters had different styles. Some were doing karate, some did military style takedowns, some were boxers, etc.
Juliet seemed to me well trained in Martial Arts. Kate seems more of a "UFC" fighter, just willing to throw anything she has into the mix and scrap it up. Much more comfortable with grappling than Juliet. Martial Arts doesn't teach you what to do when handcuffed to someone in the mud.

BUT depending on the circumstance, as we saw today, anyone could win.

then its a luck that she found enough time to shave her armpit and do a little make-up.
so after what we have seen you still believe anything juliet says or does? how do you know it was a dislocated shoulder and she did not fake it? how do you know that she did not let kate push her down once and twice? c'mon. juliet is supposed to be an expert of krav maga or other hand to hand tactical combat (not because she is in real life, it's because the moves she had applied). she had to keep up the "we're in this together now" thingie. this way she was commanding but kate was unaware...everything happened for a purpose

I know Juliet can fight but so can Kate. I think Juliet did get the best of kate in "left behind" but I think Kate is a great fighter and never stops, she got my vote, because I think if it came down to it, Kate would fight until her death and she's really cool and I don't like Juliet and that's why I voted for Kate!!!

Sneak attack with a pool cue? No problem. I think she let Kate get the upper hand when they were cuffed to seem subordinate. Kate wanted to go back to Otherville (and I'm pretty positive Juliette did too) and Juliette was trying to make it seem like Kate was in control.

It's pretty obvious she was manipulating Kate. Juliette had the cuff keys the whole time. If she wanted to, she could have unlocked herself and linked Kate to a tree in her sleep. She was playing weak to gain trust.

I think you left out some options in your survey, such as "I don't know", or "I don't care". I think Juliet is the more skilled fighter, but Kate is perhaps the one who would be more willing to go all out. For me it's a toss up. I also think that Ana Lucia could have whipped either of them even on her worst day...

I voted Kate. Juliet obviously has some sort of martial arts training, but Kate is a far better athlete and has a temper that nobody should mess with.

Juliet. What did Kate do? Hurt her arm and then said sorry? Yeah, Juliet would pull her arm from her socket and keep pulling. Plus, Kate totally got destroyed in the very beginning with her failed "sneak attack."

I worked at a karate store for 4 years and what Juliet did to Kate when she was caught was flat out stone cold. Plus, I think Kate got the upper hand on her b/c Juliet pushed her buttons and got her supper ticked off.

umm...pretty sure that the reason that she had no arm hair and makeup (although she had on a minimum of makeup) is because it is a TV show and most men would be turned off to she an otherwise pretty woman with hairy pits.

The fact is, we have seen Juliet best Kate once. We have seen Kate kick butt quite a few times. Maybe I will change my vote after I have seen Juliet get in more than one shot, but until then my vote will stick with the girl we have seen fight a few times.

Juliet looked like the better fighter. She knocked Kate on her butt even when Kate was "ready" for her in the first fight scene. I'm not saying Kate is a wimp -not by a long shot! However, I believe there is more to Juliet than meets the eye!
