Kate says this(or something like this) to Jack referring to the Others. I'm confused as to why she thinks this. Is she assuming this because of what Locke said?

View Full Version : "they left because of me" razzie33 04-05-2007, 08:46 AM Kate says this(or something like this) to Jack referring to the Others. I'm confused as to why she thinks this. Is she assuming this because of what Locke said? nancy 04-05-2007, 08:50 AM I think she means that if she hadn't come back to rescue Jack, Jack had the situation somewhat in hand and all of this wouldn't have happened. But since she came back, it prompted the Others to pack up and leave camp. DhaliaUnsung 04-05-2007, 09:08 AM When she kept repeating that it really bothered me. (Actually, Kate really bothers me. Did anyone else but me cheer when Juliet knocked the snot out of her?) I think we will see more about why the others left and discover it had nothing to do with Kate at all. gammaquest 04-05-2007, 09:23 AM I think Kate kept saying "sorry" because she feels that Jack lost his chance to go home because of her... polusmaximus 04-05-2007, 01:55 PM I think Kate kept saying "sorry" because she feels that Jack lost his chance to go home because of her... I tought that this was pretty clear. She's the one that spearheaded the movement to go rescue Jack. If she had listened to Jack, Locke would of not blown up the Pearl and the sub. Let's move along to an actual mystery  Debisobsessed 04-05-2007, 01:57 PM I think they did leave because of her rescue mission. Jack told her not to come back. Their hideout was discovered and they were compromised. DonWidmore 04-05-2007, 02:20 PM As of yet we don't know why the Others left. We know, after all, that they moved between islands. We know we saw what looked like a different ship out there- not sure what that represented. For instance, if Juliet is being deceptive then this could have been a chance for her to infiltrate the Losties. I begin to think that Kate does not have good judgement. I don't think she's thought everything through here when she blames herself. Don sandleford 04-05-2007, 02:30 PM When she kept repeating that it really bothered me. (Actually, Kate really bothers me. Funny, I actually felt the exact opposite. I was glad Kate or anyone got a couple good shots on Juliet (that women has some anger displacement issues with the men in her life). I agree that Kate's letting her guilty conscience and emotions get the better of her at the moment. The Others left their camp, if not for reasons completely unknown to the audience, because of Locke's actions. While it was beneficial to Ben that the submarine was destroyed, his people's suburbia was infiltrated. So he felt he needed to "maintain control" by leading them to a safer place. Kate was apologizing for, yet again, not doing what Jack told her to do and... for sleeping with Sawyer. I really loathe the shipper stuff but I have some bad news for the "Skaters": Sawyer is a temporary solution to a permanent problem. She better watch her back, because there is a new Annie in town. The Others could have just kept Kate, Sayid and Jack captive indefinitely. Although I suppose they might be then worried then about a new resue party for them. I guess The Others think their new hiding spot will be really hard for the Losties to detect and don't feel when Kate, Sayid and Jack return to the beach they will be able to impart any information that will make finding The Others' new lair any easier. PINK FREUD 04-05-2007, 02:59 PM The thing that bugs me about Kate is her ridiculous back-stories. Kate gets obsessed about the silliest things, and people die. Who in their right mind does a bank heist to get back a plastic plane? Her mother threatens her to stay away, but of course she wont, and Tom dies...Cassidy gets nearly arrested...she's an idjit. On island...Jack explicitly says to leave him be...of course she disregards his implicit wishes, and people die, again...what a train wreck she is. sandleford 04-05-2007, 03:18 PM The thing that bugs me about Kate is her ridiculous back-stories. I think the last two deaths can't really be blamed on Kate. Ms. Klugh told Mikael to shoot her and it was Locke that pushed Mikael into the fence. Or were there other people you were referring to? Brooke Elaine 04-05-2007, 04:54 PM I for one am a little annoyed with Kate -- she is all over the place. I think that there is some correlation between her mother asking her to say "sorry" and she saying no, and then saying "sorry" to Jack. I don't think Kate has enough to do with the big picture for the Others to leave because of her. They are on a mission and Kate just didn't measure up. Locke thinks they are off to do something great, but who knows? razzie33 04-05-2007, 08:49 PM See, I guess I was confused because I didn't take they were leaving because of Kate - I expect there must be some higher reason - PLUS Locke went with them - I think it might have more to due with Ben & the wheelchair. I was just surprised Kate is blaming herself. Brooke Elaine 04-06-2007, 02:05 AM Oh, yeah, I don't think they left BECAUSE of Kate, that's silly. They left with their new Moses, LOCKE.. :) kN3eLb4Z0d 04-06-2007, 02:16 AM Juliet is the Tom Sizemore of Craphole Island. She is HARSH. Keep brining on the pain, Juliet. I'm all about that. Robin Girl Wonder 04-06-2007, 03:00 AM I think they did leave because of her rescue mission. Jack told her not to come back. Their hideout was discovered and they were compromised. Bingo! If Kate had not come to "rescue" Jack, Jack would have gone home (hence part of the reason for the I'm sorrys), and Ben and the Others would have gone on living their weird little bubble lives there at the barracks. BUT Kate, Sayid and Locke found their secret fiefdom and now they knew where they were. When they got caught, Locke was very receptive to Ben's a** kissing (mind games!). So he went with them when they decided the only thing left to do was move to their other Other camp (where ever that is). Now I think the real question here is: Why abandon your homes because of 4 people?? Why not just "get rid" of those people and keep on keeping on?? Maybe Locke had something to do with that decision?? Or maybe it's all a trick??? PapaThor 04-06-2007, 04:23 AM sometimes people say things because they want to hear a certain response. prime example: "does this make my butt look big?" so maybe kate-the-flake [ i am not a kate fan ] was looking for a redemptive response from jack: "no kate. is wasn't because of you". of course if kate-the-flake asked hillbilly [ sawyer ] he would have said, "well freckes. doh! what's your d*mn point?" hurley would have said, "no way dude". charlie would have said, "what? have you gone bloody crackers?" danielle would have said, "yes. and they are coming back... for you". desmond would have said, "my dear lass, no matter what happens... they're coming back... for you". vincent would have said, "wooof!" sun would have said, "now we have to dig another grave... for you". jin would have said, "dang-ran" [ chinese for "of course"] then when she walks away says, "fong luh" [ "crazy". better than "tchen wah" or "gun-hoe-tze-bee-dio-se". i won't translate that but trust me it's hilarious] shannon would have said, "yeah sure. whatever". boone would have said, "do you have a pen?" arzt would have said, "yeah princess. that's what my third wife said about my first two wives." locke's dad would have said, "no kate they didn't leave because of you. you don't believe me? the phone is right over there... by the window". razzie33 04-06-2007, 08:13 AM I watched it again and --- Juliette tells Kate in the jungle that the Others left because of Kate. She plants that notion in Kate's head whether it's true or not and it's Kate who mentions it to Jack. More mind games. More proof for myself she is a liar.! Well said. funklord 04-06-2007, 12:38 PM I was very happy to see Kate knock the stuffing out of Juliette. I'm so tired of the Others' snotty attitude--they kidnap people, beat them, keep them in cages, torture them, etc. Then, when they bring them a sandwich, they get all upset because the prisoner isn't grateful. Oh gee, thanks for the sammich, I forgive you for the whole handcuffs and keeping me in an animal cage thing. flyer61055 04-06-2007, 01:07 PM I don't think it was meant to imply that the Others left literally because of Kate, but because Kate put a rescue party together to go find Jack and infiltrated their creepy little community. Rubyfruit 04-06-2007, 01:51 PM But why leave? They could've locked her up, killed them, sent her back to the cages/mine island. Doesnt make full sense. Furthermore I am still confused as to why they wanted Kate in the 1st place? Mind games for Jack? Well then why lock her up with Sawyer? |
