Does it always rain just before Smokey appears?

View Full Version : Smokie likes the rain, or does he? riverrat 04-05-2007, 10:47 AM Does it always rain just before Smokey appears? DhaliaUnsung 04-05-2007, 10:49 AM Here's a good list of when the rain appears (http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Rain). devilfrog 04-05-2007, 10:50 AM No, at least I don't think it rained before it appeared to Eko in season 2...or in season 3 for that matter, when it killed him. RMLost 04-05-2007, 11:42 AM Does it always rain just before Smokey appears? Seems to be tied to Smokey somehow (weather control experiment?). It sure did stop as soon as Juliet & Kate ducked into the trees. lostoholic 04-06-2007, 01:20 AM There's got to be a connection between the rain in the dark territory and Smokie. Anyone have the time to check or know of a thread? When Kate wanted to go back before the rain messed up the tracks, Juliet mentioned why go in the rain? Why put that line in the epi? They didn't tie it in with any other reason why she didn't want to get wet. Just thought it was odd and out of place. I also think Smokie comes out as a result of something else happening on the island, like "movement" by people, weather, or the island itself. Ben & Co. went who knows where - then Smokie came out to check on things. And it was raining of course! Ator 04-06-2007, 02:00 AM I just posted in another thread that I thought Smokey might not work so well in the rain...and that the flashes we saw, was it malfunctioning...and not because it was scanning...or downloading any info from Juliette. It's only appeared one other time in the rain that I can think of...after it killed the pilot and was chasin Jack, Kate & Charlie back in S1. It left them alone in that scene, too. Is the monster's weakness water? MikeNY 04-06-2007, 03:05 AM Is the monster's weakness water? I like the water idea, but I can't figure out why he wouldn't go underground when it's raining. Instead, he seems to get ticked off. Billy Shears 04-06-2007, 04:04 AM Pilot1- rain/day- pulled pilot from cockpit (unseen) Pilot1- dry/night- uprooted trees near beach camp (unseen) Walkabout-dry/day-appeared to Locke after chasing boar (unseen) Hearts & Minds*-(Boone's hallucination)-dry/day-Chased Boone and Shannon (?) Exodus1-rain/day-chased screaming Artz-Dark Territory (unseen) Exodus2- dry/day-pulled Locke in hole (seen) 23rd Psalm- dry/day-Eko/Charlie (seen) Cost of Living- dry/day-Killed Eko (seen) Left Behind- 1st-rain/night-chased and screaming Juliet (unseen). 2nd-dry/day-chased Kate and Juliet (seen). So, it's come out in all weather, day and night and all over the island, but we've only seen it in the day when it was dry. Sometimes it appears after someone has shouted, but other times when someone is just quietly walking. I believe it's one single thing that divides and merges itself, and not several things. Because when it attacked the fence, three separate things merged into one, then retreating, it divided itself into two. The sounds it makes may vary depending on conditions, but I haven't checked to be sure. I once thought it might be attracted by metal, but who can say if it does or doesn't? redmaria 04-08-2007, 08:08 AM It seems to be a connection between rain and bad things happening, though.its been this way since S1 SithLordDarth 04-08-2007, 09:19 AM It's funny how Juliet could predict the rain coming much as lock had done in Season 1. redmaria 04-08-2007, 09:32 AM It's funny how Juliet could predict the rain coming much as lock had done in Season 1. Maybe Juliet could do that by leaving on the outdoors or the island if you prefer for three years, and Locke for the great hunter-outdoors man that he is.Or not...Maybe something weird is going on(insert low pitched spooky voice here)ok,no ,i just think all people a little familiar with the great outdoors can foresee a litte downpour |
