I think the meds were supposed to be for Aaron. I can't remember which episode it was in, but Charlie brought the meds to get back in Claire's good graces.

yeah he did, but who knows what kind of scary medicine that was? i always thought it was weird that charlie and claire just figured it would help even though they had no idea what it was

Well remember... Desmond used the medicine... and from what we've seen so far he doesn't appear to have any side effects from it.

True. I guess Claire and Aaron should be safe for a few years since that's how long Desmond was using it. Bud Desmond did say that it was a waste of time to use the medicine. It might have just been something to keep desmond thinking he shouldn't go outside.

Exactly ;) They wanted to keep him believing that the Island was contaminated

I would think that the medicine that Desmond took and the medicine that Juliette is giving to Claire would be different. But who knows now after the little exchange we saw between Ben and Juliette. Maybe whatever she gave to Claire was something designed to counteract the implant. I'm saying that they still want Aaron. That's why Juliette is there.

I wonder if we'll ever see that case of vaccine again or find out what it was really for. Cahrlie took an injection himself, it didn't seem to do anything.

I'm pretty sure it's the same medicine. It came out of Desmond's hatch.

If you scroll down the section labeled "Injections" HERE (http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2007-02-08T09%3A27%3A00Z&max-results=20), you'll see that they are not the same. The first of the 3 pics isn't labeled, but it's the vials Juliet was stealing from the lab in Not in Portland. The other 2 are labeled, so you can compare what Desmond was using and what was used on Claire.

We weren't talking about the injections Claire got from Ethan. We were talking about the meds that came out of the hatch that Des had been injecting himself with.

At first I thought that that medicine was a set up for the C/C storyline for season three, it kind of appeared at the end of last season and was brought up again in the finale. But has since not been mentioned again.
I think that the writer's either forgot about it, or it was only meant to function as a way to show Claire how strongly Charlie felt about her and make them a couple. They could have done something a little less confusing (seeing as the sickness keeps confusing everyone).

I agree if that's all it was it was confusing, but it did serve the purpose of showing how Charlie felt about her that he would risk testing it on himself first. After what he had done, for Claire to trust him again, he would have had to have come forward with something she wanted very badly and to make that kind of sacrifice for her to realize he had her and Aaron's best interests at heart. It put closure on all he had done and got Claire to want to let him back in. I'm not sure if anything less would have done the same for Claire. She was still pretty cold to him before that.

But what I would have wanted to see, for story continuity and just because it made sense, was for Charlie to show Jack and Juliet the case when Claire was sick and ask what it was and if could help her. He still doesn't really know what it is and Juliet should know (even if it is Dharma meds).
