I thought he said that Jacob would handle it personally? If their healing powers extend beyond the Island... than is it really the Island that's been healing everyone?

Didn't Ben say that he would send someone to cure her cancer. And when he said it Juliet went quiet. I think someone else has extraordinary skills and Ben was going to send them to Rachel. Maybe? :confused:

I was thinking this too. Maybe it is Jacob who has the power to heal, or can control or harness this power? But if it was, you'd think Ben would know this, and he doesn't seem to. He was VERY interested in Locke's healing, and seemed to want to know how and why it happened, why it wasn't happening to him, etc.

Or, its possible that Rachel's cancer didn't really return, and Ben is just trying to get Juliet to believe that he/ Jacob has this power. Those medical documents he showed her could have been faked.

You can never tell with Ben. His interest in Locke's healing could have been a con. Rachel's cancer could have gone into remission on it's own.. but I get the feeling he's being legit. They fixed her.

This is what I think. Rachel's cancer never came back. The charts were a fake to keep Juliet on the Island. Ben, Jacob did nothing to cure Rachel, she just lead her normal life.

I agree that Rachel's cancer probably never returned and Ben showed Juliet fake medical records. That's the simplest answer. Otherwise we are left with that question about how the island's "power" to cure cancer could extend to someone not on the island.

this is twice now that Juliette's life has been drastically changed for the "better" by the island. Once, when her ex-husband was struck by a bus (Juliette wanted it to happen.). Now we see yet another "miracle" with her sister recovering and giving birth to a life she created. Take life away, give life to others, Juliette has witnessed the "power" of the island. I smell a long con... but then again, this is LOST.

That's where I'm leaning as well. It's odd that Juliet doesn't see through this... or maybe she does, now.

I still can't wait to find out who... or what JACOB is.

Here's another thought. Ben has implied there's something on the island where anything you want will come true. What if he used this to make her cancer go away, but the trade off was that he was to get the cancer instead. "Be careful what you wish for". Hey! That would make Jacob the "metaphorical box" ! LOL

Yes the con could easily be set up with fake records but the mere claiming that he could cure cancer with the help of some mysterious jacob person would sound like total hogwash to anyone especially a doctor who would know better. I mean he came off sounding like some wacky faith healer in a circus tent and she fell for it.
