Meaning personally be sure that Rachel is cured of her cancer, right? The statement appeared to have a huge impact on Juliet. When the name of Jacob is uttered, it has such weight and power.

I thought for sure Ben meant that Jacob would have Rachel brought to the island. And yet, Rachel was never brought, and she was still cured. How'd that mysterious Jacob make that happen?

Just a thought, and because I look towards Jack with a bit of suspicion lately..

In this scene, flight 815 hasn't crashed yet. Could this be Jack (in real world) attending to Juliet's sister? (meaning Jack is Jacob)

My thought was that just because Jacob wasn't there to cure Rachel, it doesn't mean that he couldn't have done it. The cure doesn't have to be a mystical thing.... it could just be something that Rachel was given. Probably something from the island.

I wonder why he couldn't just as easily cure Ben.

Hmmm...that's an interesting thought.

There sure seems to be a lot of faith and awe with said Jacob.

I think that her sisters cancer never came back, Ben was just conning Juliet to stay on the island by offering her to cure the "cancer" that wasn't there in the first place. That is why they wouldn't let juliet talk to her sister.

I am supremely looking forward to the eventual reveal of Jacob. It was impressive to see how quickly Juliette settled down when Ben mentioned that Jacob would take care of it personally.

I'm beyond happy that the show is back to it's original form.

Or Jacob never cured her because she never got sick again. Does anybody really believe that Ben doesn't lie (Henry Gale?). I think the charts were concocted by Ben, and that Juliette's sister never got sick again. Why would Jack - a spinal surgeon - operate on a cancer patient? He is not an oncologist, and we never knew for sure that Ben had cancer - just a tumor (Juliette said this herself).

Jacob is a real person, that kind of weight could not be had with a non-seen person.

This is probably true. The chart shown to Juliet was for a 187 pound MALE. Either Juliet is not very observant, or somebody on the production staff got sloppy. Can anybody post a screen shot of Rachel's chart?

When Ben said this I got this strange suspicion that "Jacob" is not a person but a group of people, an association of sorts. I'm still wondering about this.

Excellent point! I love any clues that point to Jack being (purposely or unwittingly) Jacob. I doubt this is one of them, unless they show Jack being transferred from Saint Sebastian to Miami or Juliet's sister moving to LA. <---What was the name of the newspaper shown?

Have we been told Jack's full legal name? Or is it just "Jack," not John or Jacob?

I also believe Jacob is a person. But what if it is the code-name of the treatment?

given the 'unexplainable' things that we have seen, i think jacob must have some 'godlike' powers.
after all, juliet's ex husband was hit by a bus to facilitate her arrival on the island.
something on the island can reach out and cause things to happen off the island.

the other option is that its all a con but i hate that idea

I think your post (is God really a person?;)) actually tells us a lot about the way that the Others think about Jacob. He's obviously reached a kind of messiah-status; I really can't think of many real-world people who's names carry that much weight.

I'm convinced this was put there just to show us that Ben was messing with Juliet; the prop people were just told to write up some crazy stuff that would make it obvious that the forms were fake.

Juliet's expression really told us a lot. This probably means that Juliet has actually met him, but prehaps she just witnessed something incredible that the other Others attributed to Jacob. But man did she shut up when Ben dropped his name.
