View Full Version : The island is 2 days in the past.
gutsdozer 04-12-2007, 12:24 AM When Ben was showing Juliet the screen in the Flame station, he said it was live video and that September 22 was today's date.
It's been said a couple times throughout the series that the plane took off from Sydney on September 24 (most recently on Paulo's newspaper, if you listened to the podcast this week). Mikhail had news reports on the TV from the near future.
Even if the island is past the International Date Line, it still doesn't add up. Our Lost island is "out of time" by a couple days.
KingMe122o 04-12-2007, 12:26 AM It was an error.
timdorr 04-12-2007, 12:30 AM Kind of an obvious one, don't you think?
Charlie 04-12-2007, 12:33 AM That's too obvious to be an error. This is one of two things (well... maybe both)
1. Ben was lying.
2. There is something up with time on the island. As Alpert hinted at saying "you'd be surprised how time flies by once you get there".
LostLaura 04-12-2007, 12:35 AM Lost Time.
It was no accident.
jonboy861 04-12-2007, 12:36 AM Has it been confirmed that the newspaper date was an error, I mean the writers and producers have to know that us Lost fans are very analytical and such.
100%
I think it couldn't have been a mistake.
ZoeWashburne 04-12-2007, 12:37 AM I agree that they showed the date way too deliberately for it to be just an error.
And as Charlie just said, Richard's line about time flying seemed to be important. That line would make it seem like the island should be in the future, but I do think it indicates time isn't flowing quite right perhaps.
Charlie 04-12-2007, 12:39 AM This is extremely important. Finally... after all the speculation. Actually, a lot of things were extremely important in this episode. XD
gradyboy37 04-12-2007, 12:42 AM Am I missing something here? The plane crashed on September 22...what's wrong with that being the date on the paper? (By the way, I do keep up with all the time theories, I just don't understand what's significant about this...)
Didn't Carlton and Damon say that the Sept 24 date was an error? I was under the impression that the 22 was when the plane took off crashed.
The plane crashed on 9/22. The paper in Expose was the error. The paper in tonight's show was correct.
ortiz34 04-12-2007, 12:43 AM I think carltonoff said with international datelines and such it is meant to be correct.
Minor date error. Now if it was a week or something difference, then it would be intentional...
This is extremely important. Finally... after all the speculation. Actually, a lot of things were extremely important in this episode. XD
What are you talking about? This is just another reference to the plane crashing on 9/22. Just like the printout from Desmond's number entry. Please explain what is "extremely important" about a 9/22 paper?
The log Locke took from the Pearl station said the anomoly (which caused the shaking earth seen at the Others book club meeting) happened on Sept 22nd...which was the day Desmond failed to get back to the Swan hatch in time to press the button after he killed Inman...thus was the reason 815 fell from the sky...or at least a contributing factor. The podcast you mentioned appeared to clear up the September 24th newspaper error from Expose...where Carlton & Damon joked that someone was going to be fired over that obvious production gaffe. Calling out Gregg Nations as a possible culprit. But you are absolutely correct...it was SUCH an obvious mistake...you would think SOMEONE would have caught it before the eppy went to air...
Unless....
They did it on PURPOSE!! But for now...I'm chalkin it up to another in the long list of Lost continuity gaffes.
KingMe122o 04-12-2007, 12:54 AM What I meant is that the paper in Expose was an error. I think that they deliberately showed the paper in this episode to correct it.
