Hurley gave up Charlie to Juliet. I assume she didn't know beforehand the whole story as to what happened with Ethan. Now she knows Charlie killed him. That can't be good. :(

I don't think Juliet cared anything for Ethan. Goodwin was a different story.

Hurley's intentions were probably to kind of warn Juliet not to cross the Losties or she'd end up buried next to Ethan, but he should have told her the whole story... How about the part where Ethan (or an Other cohort) hung Charlie!

"Ethan kidnapped Claire....Charlie got kinda upset.....we buried him over there!"
WOAH! That gets my vote for best written line in the episode!

That was so typically Hurley to downplay the facts. He seems to not want to hurt anyone's feelings or make anyone uncomfortable, maybe because he's lived with so much ridicule. And I suspect Juliet knows about the Charlie hanging - the Others seem to know everything, why not the hanging.

My take was that Hurley shared that information to give Juliet the feeling she "belonged" "Share a secret with a friend." I thought she had a weird look on her face when she glanced in the direction of Ethan's grave.

You are correct sir. All day long that was a well written line and kudos to Jorge for such a cool delivery.

It was totally designed to make her wary of what happens to Others when they cross the Losties. And it was perfectly worded and timed by Hurley, with whom I grow more impressed by the week!

I definitely think Juliet knew Charlie killed Ethan and why. The Others know everything else, how could they not know that? Even though Ethan supposedly went off on his own by kidnapping Claire the Others were aware that it happened.

That was great, but I kinda like "I was off that day."

My take was that Hurley was trying to be kind to Juliet, showing her where what he assumes is her friend is buried. Maybe so she could go visit him, say goodbye, whatever. The way the "he's buried over there" line was delivered, it seemed to me that it came out of kindness on Hurley's part.

I think Juliette's wierd look was her getting the idea to blame the kidnapping of Claire on Ethan, acting alone. Once she knew for sure he was dead. Hurley was warning her, but she used it.

I felt that Hurley left out the part about the hanging to give the impression that if you cross us that could be you to. If he told her Ethan hung Charlie first then she might feel like Oh well they'll only do something if I try to kill one of them. Just my opinion though.

OK If she knew Sawyer killed the food shack guy --- I'm thinking she knows that Charlie offed Ethan.

Who's word are we taking for ETHAN ACTED ALONE. Juliet's. Yeah I believe her ---
 About as far as I could throw her.

Hurley's too darn nice for his own good. I would have said OH really because that's not what Ethan said. ( come on if Hurley can con a con he can try tripping up the wench from Othersville.) :undecide:

I think he was just trying to give her the impression that any of them are willing to protect themselves by whatever means necessary... Although she didn't seem too concerned.

I think that Hurley had a two-fold reasoning for telling Juliet. He is so nice and wants everyone to feel like they belong so by letting Juliet know that, he is saying that he, at least, will be open to learning to trust her. Also, he is letting her know that the Losties are not defenseless against the Others. People forget that Hurley is smart and intuitive. After spending time in the institution, he must have learned a little about pyhscology. His timing, delivery, and the info that he revealed was perfect.

I read that also as "that guy crossed the line, don't mess with us".

However well intentioned Hurley was, the fact is he still gave up Charlie's name as a murderer to the self righteous enemy. I don't take that as a good sign and with spoilers saying that Charlie is to be tortured in an upcoming episode it kind of proves the point.
