Desmond is having visions, one in which Charlie dies, but other parts in which we see a flashing light in the sky near the beach cable from season 1, so he's getting the people from the vision together to go find the cable- he wants this vision to come true. He thinks its someone coming to the island, maybe Penny. But he didn't tell Charlie about the death vision, cause he needs him to come.

Sawyer is being kind of cute with Kate- best line: "you want me to make you a mix tape?"

More periodic updates please!

I live in South Texas and I can't see that far to Canada.

This is so cool!!! It's like cheating ... but it's not.

P. S. How is the incidental music? I hope it's not too dramatic.

Something fell from the sky into the ocean, and they see a beacon light inland. Desmond just found a backpack containing the book Catch-22 (in another language I think) with his Penny picture inside it. Charlie is suspicious of Desmond not being honest with him.

There was a very funny "camp" scene with Jin telling a ghost story around the campfire in korean. He had the flashlight up to his face just like teen girls do at slumber parties. So cute!

That's cold. I'll wait, but answer this, was there a promo?

Desmond sees the parachutist hanging from the tree and believes its Penny (she has a helmet on). Upon cutting her loose from the vines, he rushes to her and lifts the helmet, only to be stunned by seeing its not Penny in fact. The girl (Naomi) is half conscious, but before closing her eyes she whispers "Desmond...", screen goes to “LOST”.

And once again, no CTV promo.

In Desmond's last flashback, when he was in the monk's office, there was a picture on the monk's desk - I'm pretty sure that the woman from the jewelry store was in the picture. That must mean there was some connections very early on, leading Desmond to the island.

Hmph. Americans are so more generous. :D Looking forward to the East Coast thread. :p

(oh, well, thanks for the descriptions so far. We need more, that's all. Down to small details. Sth quick, really. Minute by minute, of course, and a script of all dialogs. Yep, only that, nothing much)

Gah! No promo again. Oh well, I'll just have to watch again at ten to see the american promo. If you want to know the ending, read on.

Desmond decides to save Charlie again, and they find a person who came down in a parachute. Desmond was convinced it was Penny, but it wasn't her. I have no idea who it was. Oh, and the flashback was Desmond as a monk (short lived) and the ending was his first meeting with Penny.

well, not to seem disrespectful, but some people do enjoy spoilers. those who dont want to be spoiled dont have to read, but there are plenty of us who want them.
100%
was there any violence in this episode? because one of the spoilers said "sex and violence" heh.

As an american in Canada, I'll try to pick up some of the Canuck slack ;)

The flashback story is about Desmond being a monk (and then getting fired) and ulitmately meeting Penny.

When they go inland to find what dropped from the sky, they find a backpack with the aforementioned "Catch 22" and it has a copy of that picture of Desmond and Penny in it as a bookmark.

Desmond considers letting Charlie die like he saw in his flashback (shot in the neck by on of Danielle's traps), changes his mind and saves him, then is kinda upset because he thinks that maybe it is him being tested (a la Abraham and Isaac) and he repeatedly fails.

They find the parachuter and cut her down - Desmond is convinced it's Penny. He pulls of her helmet and ... it's not Penny, but some woman who Desmond apparently doesn't know, but she then gasps "Desmond..."

LOST

no CTV trailer :(

That was fabulous!! I was less spoiled for this ep than usual, which made it all the better. Great to see more of Desmond's story, including meeting Penny and where the whole 'brother' thing originated. As a Charlie fan, though, it wasn't easy to see that arrow scene multiple times! My poor heart.

Also, if I were Sawyer, I would tell Kate where to go and how to get there - but he sure had some great lines this week! (Well, when does he not)

I'd like to thank you, too. I've been SO scared they were going to turn Desmond dark on us, but this is WAY reassuring! Thanks!

Good catch! I glimpsed the picture, and figured it must be significant, but didn't catch what/who was in it.

Sounds like a another good episode.

was there any violence in this episode? because one of the spoilers said "sex and violence" heh. Duuuuuude. We see an arrow go through Charlie's throat and it's all bloody and red and splashy and very disturbing. Then he dies. I can't get that picture out of my head. :frown: Thank God I'm into spoilers.

I have to say when I saw the picture of what I think is the jewelry store lady from flashes in the head monks office, I gave an audible gasp. The monk experience is also apparently how Desmond gets the "Brother" thing he uses.
When he first saw Penny it reminded me of when he saw her in the flashes episode. Like he was kind of thunderstruck.

I also wonder what the significance of the ex fiance is . She appears to be Scottish ?

ok so this epi was desmond centric. it starts off with desmond leading hurley, jin, and charlie thru the jungle. charlie and hurley are arguing about the flash vs superman. charlie steps on a wire, which trips one of rousseau's traps. an arrow flies into his throat, killing him.

after this OMG moment..we realize that desmond is just have one of his flashes, bc he then sees a succession of images which cause him to believe that penny is going to be coming to the island via parachute. he goes off to try and convince hurley, jin, and charlie to come with him to find her bc thats what happens in his flashes and he doesnt want to change anything. he neglects to tell charlie that he's gonna die. so the whole of that plotline is jin, hurley, des, and charlie trekking thru the jungle. not much action. when they're camping on the beach, they hear a chopper and see it go down in the water. they see a flashing red light, which is the parachuter. once its light outside, they go rushing thru the jungle to find her. they find a backpack in one of the trees, which presumably belongs to this chick they want to find. inside is a compy of a book with a photo of des and pen.

des is determined not to change anything, but at the last minute, he saves charlies life. so no folks..charlie aint dead yet. of course..charlie's a tad pissed at him. the catch is that they do find the parachuter..but its not penny. its a spanish chick.

in flashback central, we find out that des used to be engaged before he met penny but he called it off 6 days before the wedding and joined a monastery. the monastery bottles wine (incidently..the year des was there they only bottled 10 bottles). but des gets despondent and gets hisself hammered on some of this fine wine and is "fired" from the monstery. in other words..the head monk lets him go. the next day when he comes in to return his monk's uniform, the head monk asks him to load some of the wine crates into a truck (and i noticed that on the monks desk was a picture of him and a woman..the woman who appeared in FBYE in the jewellery store. the one who could see the future too..interesting, eh). so des loads these crates in and lo and behold! he meets penny! the one buying all this wine! she offers him a ride to carlyle. and thats how they meet. its very sweet.

in the B-plot news. kate tries to flirt with jack, but it doesnt work. she sees him hanging out with juliet and gets jealous. so she goes to sawyers tent where they have wild passionate animal sex. the next day sawyer and jack play a game of ping pong and sawyer finds out that kate saw jacko and ole juliet having a grand old time. he puts two and two together and tells freckles she doesnt have to use him. she just has to ask.

hope this satisfies some curiosity ;)
