View Full Version : The Nine Lives of Charlie.... MinnieVanMommie 04-18-2007, 11:55 PM How many times will Desmond change Charlies fate? If it really Charlies fate to die? Or is it just in Desmonds mind??? LostGroupie 04-18-2007, 11:57 PM It had to be Charlie's fate. We've seen him almost die too many times for it to be all in Desmond's head. I think that somehow Charlie will vindicate himself, and Desmond's visions will stop, and Charlie will be fine. johnnywishbone 04-19-2007, 12:16 AM I guess tonight makes it 4 times? I think Desmond said, "I've saved your life 3 times now Charlie, that should gain your trust" (or something similar) so tonight's save gets us to 4.....would ya look at that, one of the numbers, wonder if he'll get to 8? care_n_jim 04-19-2007, 12:18 AM I bet if he does die it will be on one of the numbers - he has had four close calls - so next is 8! MinnieVanMommie 04-19-2007, 12:23 AM wow yes....this is number 4 for him...wonder if someone else will have 8 close calls??? is this it for charlie??? lostgurl 04-19-2007, 12:23 AM Either they have to beat this Charlie death curse, or Desmond will probably end up dying because I don't think he can handle the stress for too much longer. Mr. Find 04-19-2007, 12:29 AM Save Charlie's butt a couple times a week? Should be a piece of cake compared to pushing a button every 108 minutes to save the world. Desmond is the man! ortiz34 04-19-2007, 12:41 AM Its getting a little tired honestly. Once they stop 'trying to avoid his death' they will kill him off, very unpredictable...sigh... Gobi-1 04-19-2007, 01:29 AM Charlie has "died" four times and there's only five episodes left. Hmmm.... MinnieVanMommie 04-23-2007, 11:58 AM I feel the same....come on already...this is too much in ways of showing us he is going to die....I think there is more to the plot that we are misssing here...I dont know what though yet... Fierro 04-23-2007, 12:37 PM How many times will Desmond change Charlies fate? If it really Charlies fate to die? Or is it just in Desmonds mind??? 4815162342 times bingobango 04-23-2007, 01:08 PM It seems to me that Desmond has a great purpose, a higher calling - which was to go to the island, throw the failsafe switch and gain his new power in order to save Charlie. If he can save charlie successfully (and more importantly) permanentally, he will then have altered destiny - he will have prevented the 'course correction' that mrs hawking told him about. This is the key to Desmond. If he can successfully prevent course-correction from happening, then by doing so he will have altered the valenzetti equation, or at least shown that it can be altered - hence saving the world. I think Desmond is the key to saving the world, but not by saving the cheerleader of course (someone elses job haha :) ). GotLost4815162342 04-23-2007, 01:22 PM I am beginning to think the Des' visions aren't quite the prophetic anomollies that we have been assuming they are. There are several reasons for me thinking this. 1. It's beginning to seem that there are quite a few involved in "directing" Des' life. Brother Campbell, Mrs. Hawking (both in the same picture on Brother Campbell's desk) 2. The information being bestowed upon him by those previously mentioned, seems to be trying to convince Des of what they are saying rather than simply informing him. It seems penultimate to Hawking and Campbell that Des believe them and do what they say. 3. Through the Lost Experience and it's related websites we have learned that "remote viewing" and weather experimentation were part of what DHARMA was doing on this island. This relates to the visions as far as how Charlie has been predicted to die (LIghtning, drowning, head trauma due to water). 4. Des is not the only person on the island to be "directed" by a vision. Locke saw visions of the Beechcraft, as well as of Boone in the airport "directing" him to find and save Eko. Charlie has had visions of his mother and Claire, as well as those of Aaron's death/need to be baptised. 5. The whispers seem to know a lot about our Losties, including what they are thinking and feeling. The whispers could be that of those controlling the visions. I remember reading in the transcripts that one or more of the whisperers have made mention of thinking they were in someone's dream. All of these things, as well as a few others, have given me the thought that just maybe the visions that Des is having are an attempt by the unknown faction of beings on the island trying to affect the outcome of events by using Desmond. |
