the phrase may be taken from people who literally wore the red shirts on star trek, but now it just means the unimportant characters who get picked off. just because jack wears a red shirt once doesn't make him "A Red-Shirt". scott was one, and i suppose arzt as well (pikki got more story but you could probably consider them red-shirts too).

Good point, I didn't even realize Jack is wearing green in my avatar. :biggrin: I only say green is bad because supposedly wearing green means death on the show, according to this one thread in the General Theories section.

Michael wore the same red shirt for like an entire month on the island, he didn't die.

You guys are all missing the most significant thing about red last night. Think back to "Flashes Before Your Eyes", and how Mrs. Hawking used the color red to show things marked as inevitable, like the guy in the red shoes.

The biggest clue in last night's episode, involving the color red, was Desmond's vividly red bloody nose. The clue came in that blood is not usually that color of red, and because the color red has a special meaning in Desmond's story lines. Take another look and you'll see. That was our signal that Desmond was once again going to change things in the time line, not necessarily that anyone was going to die.

There has been some talk about Jack dying in the finale (I'm talking about speculation, this is not based on spoiler info). I had always considered it impossible, but, I guess it could happen; who knows?? IMO Jack to be the center of the show, if not the "main character", and losing him would definitley change the dynamic of the show significantly. I guess we got a taste of that with the first half of this season.

I thought that Hurley's "con" to prepare Sawyer for a leadership role was a pretty odd choice on behalf of TPTB, since we all knew that Jack was coming back in the next ep. This was definitley foreshadowing some kind of leadership role that Sawyer will have to take in the future.

Maybe TPTB are grooming Sawyer to step up to the plate next season?? He'll presumably encouter the real Sawyer later this season. If he handles that well, I think he would really earn major brownie points both with the fans and with the other 815ers.

No Jack?? Sounds wierd to me, and honestly it makes me a little uncomfortable, but I guess I'm willing to give it a try;)

Oh, and Michael has definitely worn a red shirt. But I think when he and Walt went "home" he was wearing that awful blue and tan flannel shirt with the cut off sleeves.

I am starting to worry that Jack might die too. The writers are making him less likable and more expendable as a Lostee. Also I don't know why, but I feel like Matthew Fox might be getting bored with the series. I have no evidence of that, its just a feeling.
