I notice that every time someone comes to the island,"uninvited", they crash. The only time there isn't a a incident, is when they were brought to the island by Ben's group.

People who crash on the island:

Danielle Rousseau, and her crew- Crash on the island in their boat/vessel responding to a signal/transmission that they pick up.

Yemi/and the drug smugglers - Crash on the island in a small plane.

Desmond - Desmond crash his boat on to the island, and was later found by Kelvin Inman and taken to the hatch to begin his destiny to save the world.

The Real Henry Gale - Crash his hot air balloon onto the island in "One of them".

Unknown Parachuter - Crash onto the island when her helicopter malfunction.

There has been a lot of people who have crash on the island, and probably many more, considering we do not know how Mikhail, or the rest of the others came to be on the island. There has been too many accidents to be consider a mere coincidence. So the big question is what is causing the planes, boats, etc to crash? could it be the others? could the others be the ones behind all the crashes? ..or could the crash be Jacob's way of insuring that no one leaves the
island?

I was thinking that too. They lead us to believe the incident caused the crash when the numbers were not pushed, but the plane crashed without any incident from the hatch. Unless what the hatch and the numbers was holding is now an ongoing electrical malfunction thing.

We know that Desmond failing to press the button caused the 815 crash. Perhaps now that the failsafe has been triggered, the islands electro-magnetic force cannot be controlled. Perhaps now it has a electro-magnetic forcefield or "snowglobe" around it. That could have easily made the helicopter crash

Every time I think about all the crash "incidents"...I think about the Bermuda Triangle...not really any explanation...

Other than the whole Dharma/Other happenings...the only thing truly abnormal about the island is its electromagnetic properties...I can see that being a problem with navigation systems...but to cause engine stalling...or mid-air dissentegration...maybe the island is one giant magnet that attracts these hellicopters and planes...but wooden clipperships...or the hot air balloon??? I can see the burner on the balloon having metal parts...I can't wait until more is revealed about why/how everything wrecks on the island...

and a thread about how far the distance a helicopter can go here:

I was thinking that while I can see the electromagnetic causing the plane to crash, but it still do not explain the boat, and other stuff. Plus, when Desmond turn the failsafe, than wouldn't that had stop the electromagnetic field that might have been causing the plane crash?

The crashes of Gale, Desmond, Rousseau, The Black Rock (caravel), the flight 815 and the helicopter can be (at least) assumed as ocurred in open sea, like the Pacific or etc. But Eko's brother plane could not come from the sea: it's a small plane, leaving Nigeria, and any route he could have must not cross the sea. If they can reach the island on a submarine, looks like the sea is a door. But how the drug's plane could come from that?
