I was really confused by this. Supposedly Naomi came from the helicopter, but that landed far in the water. She landed far in the jungle. thats one hell of a jump/ejection. whats the deal?

Depending on how high up the helicopter was and the winds, you can drift for several miles before landing. The military call it "offset" and use it all the time for their special operations forces.

Having said that, the helicopter did seem to be a little low for that kind of distance.

I think we're supposed to be left wondering this. I'm not positive she came from the helicopter. Why is everyone calling her Naomi?

I believe her only goal was to get to the island, use the Satelite phone to communicate her location and then more rescue would come. If that is the case, I can see that she would parachute from the helicopter, turning off or leaving the helicopter without a pilot which would cause it to slowly fall to its death in the ocean.

Can we stop naming the parachuter now? Some who visit this board are unspoiled. Watching the episode does NOT give you the parachuter's name. You need to spoiler font it.

The fact whether her name is even known is the spoiler! At the end of the episode we do not know if she is dead or alive. We do not know if we will learn any more about her.

At this point we do not know her name from the show. We might assume it is the same as the future characters name but, unless we quote sources outside of the show as presented, we can not be sure.

There is so much information out there that for some, it's hard to keep
speculation from what's already happened on the show.

While for some it's fun to talk about "what if's" for others it is not. We should
respect their choice not to be spoiled even "by accident". Her name
should be kept underwraps until this Wednesday's show is over.

How on God's 'green earth' (note the Earth Day plug) does this explanation make sense to you? Abandon a functioning helicopter and risk death by parachute instead of landing? I think it is pretty safe to assume that the 'parachuter' did such an act due a problem with the helicopter.

Not trying to be a trouble maker but I just watched FBYE and Ms. Hawkings name was never mentioned in it yet everyone is calling her Ms. Hawkings. Would this not be the same instance or does it not matter after x amount of epis? Just kind of wondering as if we never see this parachute person again that we can not call her by her name even though it has been released in various places until next season does that mean we can not call her by the name that has been released or do we have to call her the chick that we can not call by her name? Or is it like after 3 epis we can call her by that name? Should we not be calling Ms. Hawkings jewerly store lady or something like that?
I wonder if there is anyone else that we should not be calling by the listed name since their name was never spoken to us in the show?
