Ok, I don't know how else to put it. But if the sperm count is FIVE times that of a normal man, you gotta wonder what these kids ( if they could have a pregnacy go to full term) Would be like? I mean if the count is that high, what about the sperm itself? Would this be a Superior Human race? I now really don't believe Ben was Born there.

All I was thinking was that the guys on this island must now be stallions. :eek2: How are women not getting pregnant left and right? Kate's probably next and Claire better watch out.

Yeah, and what about the incidence of multiples (like, sextuplets!) Maybe it allows women who've been through menopause get pregnant and Rose'll be pregnant too...

well, Juliets sister had cancer and got pregnant, Rose used to have cancer until she got to the island. With the sperm count being 5 times that of the adverage male I don't think we can discount Rose, and we have no idea for sure if she gone through menopause. I don't think any of the women on that island are safe!:eek2: Intresting thinking on your part!

Isn't funny they found a pregnancy test in the wreckage of the crash, but no condums? Which would you have brought on Vacation:biggrin:

Now we know why Ben caged Alex's boyfriend.

Ah-ha! Probably a good idea!

Now the question is...is the 'power' of the super-swimmers the reason for the problems that occur with the women who get pregnant on the island...and if so, why not do the experimenting on the men!!!

That's right! Maybe 'fixing' them would fix the problem! Juliet did say in One of Us that she thought the problem started at conception. It's so odd that setting foot on the island makes this happen- and what the heck is she collecting samples from the women for! It's so odd that the island heals people- and kills mother. This show is NUTS! (but I love it.)

Thank you! I don't think this is a feminist question but a Medical one!

If this were the Garden of Eden then to create a human race from just Adam and Eve you'd need super sperm.

Wow, am I brain-dead! You're right- It definitely explains why Ben doesn't want him anywhere near his precious Alex.

No, the amount of sperm doesn't change anything about the embryo. It merely gives you a better chance of fertilizing the egg.

Here's a situation to explain it easier:
Let's say a guy is given 5 shots at sinking one free throw in a basketball game. The guy on the other team has 25 chances. You, the fan, bets on the player that you think will be able to sink one free throw. Wouldn't you bet on the player who had 25 chances, rather than the one who only had 5?

You would want to up your odds as much as possible and that is what the island does for men - gives them 5 times as many chances to successfully fertilize a woman's egg. Juliet is right, those are good odds!

This would have absolutely no effect on the incidence of multiples OR impregnating a woman who had been through menopause. Those things are dependent on the woman releasing an egg (or multiple eggs) and as we've seen, the island isn't very kind to the women in the baby-making area. :undecide:

Those little 'tad-poles' are already 'super' if you think about what they have to do, and what they have to fight for.

Perhaps the magnetics of the island are positive for the male species and negative for the female species...

The Others don't want to lose their own women, which is why they're experimenting on the "imports". However, having seen Juliet with Goodwin, we know they're not all abstaining from sex. So there's probably a hefty supply of contraceptives on that island. Women are probably doubling or tripling up on the protection - pill, IUD, spermicides - just to be on the safe side.

Just because the sperm count is five times higher doesn't mean the sperm is viable. The island could also make the sperm like a foreign body to the females thus causing rejection and death. :eek2:

Guys,if sperm count is 5 times higher on the island, then no doubt Kate is pregnant.Shes been getting it on with James a lot lately,so im afraid, its almost positive she is.right?
