View Full Version : Blastproof radiation shielded baby containment room?
admiralquality 04-26-2007, 01:26 AM So that hidden room was more than hidden, it was built like a bomb shelter. Is this to
contain the awesome powers of the superbaby they're trying to breed? :D
Same room that has the Oceanic Air mobile over the crib. Too bad Sun didn't notice THAT.
ozieozwall 04-26-2007, 01:31 AM REmember the Hostiles took over the Dhrama groups bunkers. It looked like a storage room. Whatever Dhrama was doing which IMO was preparing for the end of the world, they were planning to use these sheldter to survive.
BillToons 04-26-2007, 01:36 AM Oceanic Air mobile over the crib? danr i missed that one... have to go back and watch again for all the details I miss in the first go thru. THANKS!

From last season. Claire's "Maternity Leave" episode. The crib was in that room.
Varadox 04-26-2007, 01:44 AM Yeah, I said, "hai2u blastdoor" when Juliette first opened it.
I noticed some of the items from Clair's nursery, but I was under the impression that that stuff was moved there. Of course, many or my impressions end up wrong.
Tundra_Ice_Cold6477 04-26-2007, 01:59 AM It almost seemed like the entire Medical Hatch was fake. The switch for the hidden room is inside a locker and then a row of lockers are moved to access the door.
Does this mean there were hidden doors in the Swan?
Are there hidden doors in the Pearl? (no, Ben and Juliet did not come into the Pearl through a hidden door during Paulos flashback)
BlackLotus 04-26-2007, 05:04 PM the door looked very similar in construction to the blast doors in the swan except they opened/shut in a more regular manner
wonder if they were to protect against the same thing ?

I think if there were a hidden switch in the Swan, Hurley would have accidently flipped it by now.

TK 421 04-27-2007, 02:40 AM my impression was that the back room where Sun and Juliette were had everything kind of pushed and crowded into it. I think that the crib and baby gear was actually in one of those rooms in the hall when Claire and the other mothers were staying in there. But when the Staff was comprimised (Claire could eventually remember where it was) they abandoned the station but moved everything into the secret room.
Flotsam 04-27-2007, 05:55 AM ...the crib and baby gear was actually in one of those rooms in the hall when Claire and the other mothers were staying in there.
Yes. Claire's nursery was not through the locker room, but just off the main hallway: first door to the left, as you approach the O.R. When Claire, Kate and Russeau visited the Staff station, Claire found the bootie she'd knitted inside the evacuated nursery.
The room we saw in "D.O.C." was completely new to our eyes, filled with vital equipment They tucked away.

I'm skimming through Maternity Leave now and... I forgot the room had muzak piped in! But judging by the texture on the walls and the paintings on the wall (which were cleared out into the hidden room) I'd say it was the operating room at the end of the hall that she was in when getting most of the work done by Ethan. It has walls with a green marbled texture.

But there's also a scene where he shows her the nursery. Ah yes, after giving Claire an injection, Ethan says "and now because you've been such a good girl, I think it's time for a surprise" then we see the Operating Room doors (at the end of the hall) open. This is also the shot where you can see a small (hobbit height) door labelled "Escape Hatch" which SHOULD be the first or second door on the right, coming in. But I didn't notice it in D.O.C. (I've been wondering about the hatch in a hatch ever since that episode! Could this be an entrance to the tunnels everyone's been guessing about? http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Image:Med_station_corridor2.jpg )
Yes, then he walks her down almost to the circular concrete arch and back towards the area where Juliet went to turn on the lights.
This room is all nursery, no medical stuff like we saw in D.O.C. The walls are concrete painted baby blue with T-shaped brown colored support beams.
OK, you're right, Claire found the blue nursery room with Rousseau and Kate. But it's mostly cleared out. Rocking chair is still there. Not much else. Lighter spots on the walls where the pictures were hung.
Kate finds the locker room, and all she finds is the ratty clothes and fake beard and Dharma (tm) RX-1 Theatrical Glue. (Same label as the vaccines have!) Odd, does Tom have to run to the medical hatch to change into costume every time they're planning to scare the Losties?
Claire finds the bootie.
Then Claire and Rousseau go in the operating room. They find the medicine refrigerator turned over. Claire calls Kate for help and Kate comes from the locker room (which is in the smaller hall).
OK, watching D.O.C. again and...
That's the same table/chair Sun is on that Claire was on.
No sign of the "Escape Hatch" in D.O.C. :( It MUST be in the main hall, between the two sets of double doors on the right side (facing the operating room).
So yes, all the stuff from the medical hatch, both nursery and medical stuff, seems to have been moved into the hidden room. Sorry, I saw the nursery stuff originally and assumed it was the same room. Super dangerous baby theory. But the question now is... why have a hidden room with safe-like bolts on the huge door, but you open it with a simple lever (albeit hidden) instead of a combination? What's that room originally for?
wanders01 04-27-2007, 08:36 AM It seemed to me that the room was filled with all the equipment that we saw before. They cleaned out all the common areas after Claires escape.
BOBBY 04-27-2007, 08:39 AM i dunno, i think the hidden room was exactly like juliet says,a place for the women to die,
finito !

Juliet is clearly lying about that (as clear as a lie ever is on this show.) She looks off to the side and touches her hair while making up the lie. It's just a good thing to say to get Sun to drop the subject fast.
(In fact, I just checked "One Of Us", Juliet's recent flashback episode, and the woman dies, under Ethan's knife, in that same green operating room, not the hidden room.)
And really, why would you need to take women who were dying to a hidden thick-walled safe? Unless you thought they were going to explode or become radioactive. ;) Wouldn't it make more sense to keep them at Othersville, where they can be with their friends and co-workers in their last few hours?
modkittn 04-27-2007, 11:02 AM Well, The Others were using the room for the pregnant women. I'm wondering what the heck Dharma was using a hidden room for!
Dr. Suds 04-27-2007, 12:41 PM What's that room originally for?
The shielding there and at Swan still suggest synchrotron to me.
