View Full Version : What Mikhail was doing in the jungle
kokobware 04-26-2007, 11:31 AM I posted this in response to another thread, but didn't get any thoughts on it. It's been touched on in a few different threads, but nothing specificly like this (or of course I could have missed it, but anyway...)
We don't for sure what the fence does, it might be designed to just incapacitate intruders until the others can come and get 'em!
Mikhail was probably coming to, checked out his home town, Othersville, found it abandoned, went searching for his crew, then saw the flare. He thought, Ben and the others were signaling him to come meet them, he arrived and found Desmond and the gang.
Of course... he could have been looking for the parachutist if she was a plant, but I like the above better.

That's certainly a great theory. I was thinking he heard the parachutist just like Desmond and company and went looking for her. The flare was fired so he figured that was her signaling for help. Then he was in shock to find some of the Losties so he ran.
Some people actually think she was there to give him that communication device. We'll have to wait, watch, and see.
Or maybe he was in a hurry to take a piss.
I think the Others would have gone looking for his body after Locke told them how he killed him.
Two possibilities seem most likely to me:
1) He's hiding from the Others. That's why he wanted to be let go "as if he were never there." Maybe Claire isn't the only one with an implant... maybe all the Others do, to keep them in line. And maybe the fence fried his, freeing him from their control. That may be why he said "Thank you" to Locke.
2) He was there to fix the underwater sonar beacon the wire leads to, since without it no one from the Others' organization can find the Island.
Dublin Dilettante 04-26-2007, 02:21 PM Mikhail doesn't have to explain himself to any of you. He was probably looking for Locke and Sayid so the three of them could form a Council of Awesome.

Best post ever.

LMAO
Those 3 certainly would be a Council of Awesome!
Best 3 characters imho, now that Sawyers turned into a softie.

ozieozwall 04-26-2007, 03:51 PM IMO Mikhail is a Dhrama converted to a Hostile. Mikhail is a sleuth type warrior and again IMO he is not on the Island doing research, he is there for another purpose. The parachutist, Desmond, Kelvin and Mikhail I think are all part of a huge change we are told we will se at the end of this season. Desmond I think is preprogrammed he just doesn't know it yet.
Something is coming? We've been told that. Something is coming that is so bad Ben isn't Evil enough to repell

i agree, when he got there and noticed a "Korean" his face changed
lol
slidr 04-26-2007, 04:05 PM I believe that Mikhail was believed to be dead by some of the losties and the others, and was looking for the others when he thought that the flare was them.
evassu esaelp 04-26-2007, 04:10 PM Or he could have been back with the others and they sent him to scout what the flare was perhaps
harpy 04-26-2007, 04:19 PM My take:
1. He hoped to get fried by the fence, that was the "other way" he had mentioned to Ms. Klugh to try and escape from the Losties.
2. He wakes up after healing, and wanders around. He's still a bloody and dirty mess when he comes across the losties and so he probably didn't meet up with the others.
3. He sees the emergency beacon from the parachutist and starts moving to that location.
4. He sees Hurley's flare and zooms in on the location.

Good one:). I guess Creedence turned into Jethro Tull, for him.

That's what I'm thinking. He knew it'd hurt, but the island would heal him up in no time

Right there with ya.
I think he's now a loner and a wild card. He wanted the radio so that he could get it working and get the heck outta there. His old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. He can fix it.
