Juliet mentioned in the tape recorder that she was collecting "samples" from the other women. What do you think these samples are? As far as I can tell, she didn't get any kind of tangible sample from Sun. Also, do you think Juliet is pulling this same I'll-help-you-but-dont-tell-anyone trick on every woman with the Losties? Night by night is she taking new women to collect this "sample"?

The only samples I can think of that she could possibly get without being very obvious (such as urine) are blood and dna.

maybe she recorded the babies movements, measurements etc...

A blood test would also be the most conclusive way to tell if the women were pregnant as well.

I think that she meant blood. Remember back right before Claire was kidnapped, she said that somebody injected her with something and we found out on OOU that Claire wasn't hallucinating, they were taking blood samples from her. It makes sense. If the body does view a fetus as an invasion it would send it's immune system against it, a blood test would be one of the most effective ways of detecting this. Immunities are carried by the blood (white cells, T cells), not exclusively, but I think that it is the easiest way for them to detect anything given the equipment that they have.

yep...blood must be the answer. so the next intriguing question is...how? Its not like Kate is going to voluntarily hand over some blood. Methinks that Juliet will have to find a way to take it from her. Can anyone say cat fight !

My theory is Juliet is there to collect samples and information on all the Losties, to discover if and how many could be pregnant. Thinking of the food drop, could that food have been laced with experimental drugs or hormones to increase fertility? She mentioned that the men's sperm count is higher on the island, could this be her doing? Also with taking Kate and Sawyer (young, healthy) and setting them up to be so close to each other, hoping for them to get together, kinda falls into their scheme.

At this point, I would suspect Juliet could walk right out to the middle of the beach, mention what happens to pregnant women on the Island, and get her samples... She'd just have to do some fancy tapdancing to convince them that she's doing it for their sake and not the Others.

I think the injections Desmond were on were merely placebos, to create the illusion of having to stay in the hatch.
