Watching the episode last night, and the subsequent preview for next week's episode, I had a thought.
What if on this island, there can only be one child born on the island at one time?
At this point, that would mean that Ben is the reason why nobody can conceive, because he was "born on the island" (Although I'm not sure if he as conceived there.) Him being the "one child" would likely make him the favorite of whatever Jacob is, and would default him to being the leader of the others, (or the whole island, depending on what's going on there.)
This could be why Juliette wanted to kill Ben, in order for there to be a new birth. So the question is if Ben gets killed, will Sun (and maybe Kate) be able to carry full term?
::Side note::
They've been on the island for 90 days now. What happens when they get to 108?
