But this dialogue. ehh im not liking it! I'm like hating these flashforwards because i want to know what happens to everyone at the end of the last season.. not right now?! And i don't like this. I'm just hoping that kate and sawyer start talking to eachother again because i love them together! sooo adorible! And charlie was soo cute when he was shown but i really don't think he should have come back. They've got to turn this season around or i think they'll lose alot of fans. So what did everyone else think? RodimusBen 02-01-2008, 12:24 AM I'm not really seeing why you're not happy with the episode. This episode had all the characters in it, which is different from all the previous season openers since the first. beema 02-01-2008, 12:29 AM I just wanted it to be 2 hours of real show no hour long recap Selene1212 02-01-2008, 12:35 AM Okay well im one of those fans that really don't even care about the story i just love to see eveyone.I didn't realize there were fans like that! ame en peine 02-01-2008, 12:41 AM I didn't realize there were fans like that! :shrug:That's a new one for me too.. (especially for #1 fans ;) ) BTW - there's always a stickied thread to discuss if you didn't like the episode http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=77928 NotAnOther89 02-01-2008, 01:16 PM I just wanted it to be 2 hours of real show no hour long recap I dont understand why people are upset about this, everyone seems to think they were tricked and it was supposed to be a 2 hour new episode. They have never had a 2 hour premiere before and there is always a recap episode first. Plus the one new episode was great, having the recap doesn't make it worse. samantha 02-01-2008, 03:11 PM I loved the flashforwards! I love seeing how everything is connected, and I definitely love those 'OMGWHATISGOINGON?' moments that make the Lost viewing experience what it is, and I think the flashforwards were particularly full of that in this episode. I've been left with more questions than answers after the premiere, but I kind of like it. I enjoy sitting here scratching my brain, pondering over what I just saw. I really enjoyed this episode, there were a few bits I wasn't so crazy about, the scene between Charlie and Hurley was oddly frustrating for some reason, and I'm not so keen on the idea that Hurley's back in the institution, but who am I to question what is probably part of a bigger picture? All in all I thought it was a super exciting start to what I hope will be an awesome season. Claudia815 02-01-2008, 03:44 PM I loved this episode and I'm just as confused about the bellyaching regarding "two hour premiere" as some of you. WHEN has that ever happened? Anyway. I'm posting in this thread because I don't want to post in the "didn't love it" one since that is absolutely not true. I do have two things that bugged me. 1. Naomi's death was incredibly anticlimactic and explaining her pulling a knife out of her back an climbing a tree soon thereafter and all the treking she did is incredibly contrived.Of course you're not gonna believe that as a doctor. Cause it's not gonna happen. I'd be fine with it knowing what we know about the Island, except the Island's mojo wore off in thirty seconds when it was highly convenient for Naomi to die. This is kinda of a very minor gripe. 2. The only scene of the episode I didn't like was the womenfolk gathered to swoon at their men's heroism and Rose telling Claire she has to put out now. I hate how they write women on this show and I've resigned myself to it, but this was just... "Yuck" I think was the word a reviewer described. Still loved it. Still excited about Lost after so long. Still very impressed with the premiere. I guess I just have to nitpick after so much time spent in fandom. ;) Sawyersugarmama 02-01-2008, 03:50 PM I LOVED Hurley in this epi. When he bolted out of that store, I nearly wet myself laughing but felt guilty when I found out why he did it. I'd like to know which ^6" the Oceanic 6 are and why Hurley got off the island with Jack when he had decided to go with Locke. I loved the scene between Hurley and Claire when he told her about Charlie and how genuinely upset by Charlie's death that Sawyer was. It was very touching. Also, I really liked the first hour cause I needed to be reminded again of what had gone on before. It was nice seeing that stuff again. Just made me more impatient for next week though. DefenderOfMen 02-01-2008, 04:05 PM Oh it has been far too long since I've been here! I'm not really sure how I feel about this episode. I loved that the flash foward had Hurley and Jack and it wasn't just one character. Charlie's death became much more "real" to me when Hurley told Claire he was gone. I nearly cried. I can tell they're setting up for some cool stuff and I am psyched for this new season! jukap829 02-01-2008, 04:38 PM I've got a few things: the episode for me was my first "real time" episode after watching s1-3 straight last season, I was oddly NOT upset with the storyline's action, especially since Hurley basically saw Jacob's house (with Locke inside even), didn't see any of that coming... Naomi's recovery and death were both suspect in my mind, as was her compassion towards Kate after being literally "stabbed in teh back", but i'll buy it the Lost recap - great, finally got my dad into Lost as he's too impatient to sit for 70+ hrs watching dvd's I'm just upset they didn't tie the find815 characters in :( -k29 can't wait for the season to unfold 100% I loved that the flash foward had Hurley and Jack and it wasn't just one character. anyone else notice Jack being in every fast forward so far? Redemption_Isle 02-01-2008, 05:06 PM I was happy with the epi in general even tho as always it introduced more questions than it answered. I particularly love the idea that the island "gives" people things when they give or give up things. Jack, Kate and James have not in any way relinquished control, so they are the most tormented characters on the island. Charlie regained his innocence when he gave up drugs. He gave up his life and gained Claire's love. Hurley lost his fortune and became a hero. Locke gave up his dependence and victimhood and has gained independence and serenity. Jin gave up controlling Sun and has gained a child. I really look for the visually beautiful moments in LOST and this epi had 2, both underwater. Hurley's cannonball and Charlie's face as he signals Desmond will stay with me. Can't wait to know: Who are the six? Why did Jack and Hurley both get off when in separate groups? Hurley saw and heard Jacob, now what? How was Locke healed? Where is the security system? Naomi runs all around the woods, climbs a tree and then dies? Hope it's a great season. alicou22 02-01-2008, 07:03 PM 2. I hate how they write women on this show and I've resigned myself to it, but this was just... "Yuck" I think was the word a reviewer described. What made it even more "Yuck" was that we...the audience...already know that Charlie is dead. I thought it was in poor taste. CalvinHobbes 02-01-2008, 08:56 PM I have mixed feelings about this episode. But I will take whatever they give me at this point. Making Hurley the focus of the opener was kind of odd. Don't get me wrong, I like Hurley. He's just not the kind of character you would expect to lead us into the new season. But it was Charley's pivotal role at the end of last season that set up Hurley's role at the beginning of this one. Their friendship didn't have the same edge as the Jack-Kate-Sawyer thing or the Jack-Locke thing. But it was enough to push Hurley into a quasi-leadership position. When he chose Locke over Jack, he was clearly stepping out. My frustration with this epi is that they didn't give the action enough time to resonate. I'm not even sure who went with what group in the end or even why. maxaholic 02-01-2008, 09:15 PM if you watch the credits in the beginning, after all the regular stars are listed, guest stars are listed. John Terry is listed as a guest star. Do you know who that is? Christian Shepard......Jack's dad. I think he is in the rocking chair in "jacob's" cabin. HELP ME he said to Locke. and yes, I know he's dead but so was Ben's mom and Charlie. Jack's dad was walking around the island in the first season too:eek2: . NotAnOther89 02-01-2008, 09:39 PM He wasnt the one who said help me, but he was in the chair last night. AnalogKid 02-02-2008, 12:54 AM Didn't want to start a new thread for this... Just wondering if anyone else thought for a minute that it was going to be Edward Mars, not Jack, that was watching the car chase on TV, and that it was Kate driving. The orange juice is what made me think this at first. emmaAmethyst 02-02-2008, 01:31 AM 2. I hate how they write women on this show and I've resigned myself to it, but this was just... "Yuck" I think was the word a reviewer described. ... Usually I'd be right along with you. But they also do write some pretty self-sufficient, ballsy, substantial women on this show. (Rousseau may be nutso, but she's damn functional!) I actually took that scene more as Rose telling Claire that she's been too mean & off-putting to Charlie lately -- he's a good guy. Claire's a mother now & has responsibilities, but Charlie really has turned his life around, & is totally devoted to Claire & Aaron. Yeah, the girls were winking about "be nice to him". But I heard it more as "It's OK for you to like him". And even to forgive his previous faults. Retinend 02-02-2008, 08:08 AM That was a pretty good episode. The flash-forward was surprisingly uninteresting and unrevealing, apart from the fact that we know Hurley is off the island and is (possibly) nuts. The stuff on the island was fantastic melodrama, despite the obligatory sadness-over-death-of-boring-hobbit and who-knows-what end-tying. Jack is a dick; I was seriously disappointed at the beginning when I erroneously thought that we were having another Jackback/ Jack to the future, fortunately we didn't. I'm also sick and tired of Hurley, the lame slow-motion bombing, "charlie's...dead" and "I'm listening to my friend" (anything with that awful piano background music) was pretty much unwatchable. SeventytwoLTD 02-02-2008, 04:53 PM I wondered about Naomi getting up, wandering around and climbing a tree after she supposedly died as well as the one eyed guy (can't think of his name at the moment - Victor ?) getting up, swimming outside and blowing up the hatch after being shot with the crossbow - but the Island rejuvinates Locke, so perhaps it did Naomi and Victor. Ben shot Locke and left him for dead - Locke was in the pit with all the bodies, bleeding and paralyzed, yet he appears in pretty good shape when he "kills" Naomi. JackSackAndCrack 02-03-2008, 07:15 PM Well i liked it, and i do think LOST is back, but there were some bad moments: Sawyer's "What i've always done Kate - Surviving." was terrible. Absolute tripe, they need to stop writing in those horrifically melodramatic over the top lines. Naomi's "Tell my sister i love her" line, and then the subsequent sudden face slumping into the phone was just awful. So cliche'. Hurley's acting when delivering the news to Claire, and the speech after, was very questionable, plus he looks like the Penguin from Batman when he cries. Not enough Desmond. Character's still doing illogical things (Laughing and joking after a lady has been killed, throwing radio into the ocean, Sayid still pissed off about Locke blowing up the sub, when clearly there were more important matters at hand). The good outweighed the bad though. Every scene with Jack and Locke was absolute gold, and written extremely well. The flash forwards were fantastic also - WAY better than the stale flashbacks. Shillelagh61 02-04-2008, 09:02 PM This was posted by Malachy on the Didn't Love It thread and I had a comment on it, but apparently if I didn't mind the episode I wasn't supposed to post there.... so will try it here. Part of what he said was: "I think it's pretty obvious to speculate that Jack and the other survivors who got off the island (Kate, Hurley, etc.) will indeed return to the island for an ending that everything (all flashbacks, present "island-time", and flash-forwards) will culminate toward, and will take place after the period of time depicted in the flash-forwards. Only then will we learn the final fate of these characters." My comment was along the lines of this (and I wish I could remember exactly what I wrote): I'm not sure that Jack and the rest of the Oceanic 6 will return to the island. I think the very last scene of the finale of S3 is the last scene of the last episode of the series. TPTB are very devious about how the series plays out. We all know that. They also said (paraphrasing here) that we may not be happy with the ending. I hope that with the end of the writers strike we'll see the other 8 episodes for this season THIS year, even if they have to take a break to finish them. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope I'm posting these thoughts in the right place this time. Revo 02-07-2008, 07:45 AM It's not the last scene of the show. This has been confirmed by the producers. Felaries65 03-28-2008, 02:13 AM Character's still doing illogical things (Laughing and joking after a lady has been killed, throwing radio into the ocean, Sayid still pissed off about Locke blowing up the sub, when clearly there were more important matters at hand). Sayid has never liked Locke. I find it curious that there has been scant mention of Jack's attempt to kill Locke. |
