RodimusBen 05-03-2007, 05:31 AM 38 = 15 + 23. TheDharmaIsOutThere 05-03-2007, 05:40 AM I love all the stuff with numbers. my fav is: 4+8+15+16+23+42=108 when oh when will the magic behind the numbers be revealed? Deadshot 05-03-2007, 07:51 AM Wasn't it revealed in TLE?? ortiz34 05-03-2007, 10:43 AM kinda , but noone cares about that because most people didnt follow that mess. People are still hoping it would be revealed better in the show (as it should) but im not holding my breath... What Would Jeff Do 05-03-2007, 12:36 PM 38 = 15 + 23. People are still hoping it would be revealed better in the show (as it should) but im not holding my breath...It isn't going to be revealed in the show. TPTB have said as much. The numbers were a device created for Hurley's back story and then expaded on for TLE. Now they pretty much exist as a running gag for the creators, which is why they throw them into everything from the code Juliet enters on the sonic fence to the number of bottles of wine Desmond's parrish made in a year. In terms of the show as a self-contained thing, apart from TLE, just think of the numbers as Hurley's curse. Chrysander 05-04-2007, 11:26 AM It isn't going to be revealed in the show. TPTB have said as much. ...just think of the numbers as Hurley's curse. Man! I hope that isn't true. If it turns out that there is no further explanation about the numbers, I'd say it's terrible story telling. GreatHeights 05-04-2007, 12:03 PM http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Apophenia#Examples_in_Lost YES! Thank you. That was so enjoyable to read right now. I just got done writing a long post on another thread essentially about apophenic theories (even though I didn't know that I was talkign about apophenia at the time). Its nice to have a word for the phenomenon occuring on these boards that is really starting to frustrate me. I love the crazy theories and I'm guilty of obsessing over details sometimes too, but man, some people take it to far. RodimusBen 05-05-2007, 06:16 AM Man! I hope that isn't true.
