Locke is the person that can finally overpower Ben because he believes in the power of the island and not the power of Ben. If all goes well, Locke will become the leader of the group and of the Island.

If all goes well, Locke will become the leader of the group and of the Island. He will be the leader of a very evil group then. I'm not sure how I feel about Locke being the leader of people that commited mass murders. He would be in the 'bad guy' camp for me.:ohwell:

Perhaps the people that are there are Good..and Ben has been evil all along...Perhaps they cant get out from his control...and this is their way out to get back to the good again...

Only thing you'd need to watch out for then would be Locke believing in the power of Locke. :)

I have to say that this is posted because I beleive Locke isnt dead...as do many other people on here....that being said...

We know Dharma was a good group...We know nothing about the Hosties except they are into mass killing...It is once again all about persepctive...Did they kill for the greater good? Their version of the greater good is something we know nothing about...What we do know is that they are timeless....70 year old uterus inside a 20 year old body referfence...and of course there is alpert...the man that never ages...Maybe they are onto something and HAD to kill dharma...for their own greater good...

Think his kideny removal will come into play on this one? Looked awfully close to where his kidney was.
Either way, that episode totally kicked me in the face.

I agree it's feasible that there was a reason the Hostiles had to kill the Dharma people; after all, they skipped a lot of years, and there was a lot we didn't see. But, assuming that they are just mass murderers a la Hitler, I can't see Locke knowingly become the leader of a group like that. Remember, he doesn't know the real story. Ben "sugarcoated" it for him, leaving out the fact that he and Richard were part of it.

How do we really know Dharma was a good group? They say they are there to work for good, for the betterment of mankind.... But doesn't every evil organization say that? Maybe the hostiles were hostile for a reason?

I'm not ready to whole heartedly believe Dharma was good. After all they built a fence to kill off wildlife that may impune their efforts there. They carried guns. My guess would be the hostiles experienced what the native Americans experienced, a get out of our way or else treatment by Dharma.

Just a thought.

I don't know if Locke cares about being their leader, he's just looking for the meaning of the island. But Ben obviously is fearful of Locke exposing him as a fraud, and gaining the allegiance and admiration of the others.
