View Full Version : The Whispers!

Oh yeah, the whispers are back! The EM may have prevented us from hearing them at all this season, but there were HUGE tonight! First when Ben ran towards the pylon, and then in the woods, right before he saw Richard.

I felt clearly that we were meant to equate the whispers with the presense of smokey in the form of Ben's mom. So clearly, that I feared for the camp that Ben left without turning the pylons back on!

Can't WAIT to hear what these whispers said. Someone reminded me recently that the whispers talked to Ben when he was locked in the armory. I wonder of they did again.

Yes, I definitely perked up when I heard those first whispers! It's been almost a year since they've made an appearance.

Right now, I'm wondering if Jacob has anything to do with the whispers. Especially because of that scene where Ben could hear jacob talking but Locke couldn't, and then Locke suddenly heard the words "help me"

so theres clearly two groups of "others" here. i think that one is outwitting and out smarting the other by putting on acts and all that, like how the "first others" had fake beards and such. i think that (just a thought, not true prolly wont be true) theres a whole different group, like how ppl r saying on here that theres The Black Rock people that just dont age and aren't dead. and i think that group includes Jacob and he's the "leader" like Ben, and that was just like the little confirmatation (spelling...wow) the losties had w/ the others for the first time, when they "crossed the line". I think it is very like Damon and Carlton to trick us like that into thinkin theres one group of others but in all reality theres 2 and one is more powerful than the orignal others we know and hate...lol. THIS IS JUST A small THEORY so dont freak out on me okay? lol
then i think the whispers are from the other others and the orignal others....hmmmm...im tired and hungry...so that is an example of "get some sleep and food people!"

Hey Buffy, all the transcripts that had been posted on lostlinks were work that was actually done by fuselage members, primarily penyours and her partner rvturnage. You can join in on the main conversation by clicking on the link in my sig. All transcripts are all available at the Long Lost List.

As someone who has done a lot of listening to the Smokey sounds, more than the whispers, I can tell you that "help" and "help me" was ALL OVER THE PLACE when Smokey met Locke, Jack, et al coming back with the dynamite in the season one finale. (Only audible when you slow down the audio.) And most recently, when Kate and Juliet are hiding in the tree from it. If you take the second burst of flashes that Smokey makes at Juliet, slow that audio down to half speed (IIRC, even without any filtering) a voice CLEARLY says "help... me".

I also heard a gunshot when Jacob and Ben were fighting, I kind of thought that Jacob was giving John a glimps as to what was about to happen......

Could the whispers be dead people? Maybe the island has a way of trapping the souls of those that die there or something and they roam around the jungle. Or maybe they're other out-of-body types like Jacob, but they aren't as powerful (or confined to an old beat up cabin!).

I'm also gald that the whispers are back. At some point in this series I thought the show-runners completely forgot about that element, so I'm glad they didn't.

They mentioned them in a few interviews this season, so I'm still thinking/hoping they disappeared due to the EM.

I know that this isn't the subject of this thread, but I agree with you. I read and hear constantly that Lost is going down hill and/or losing viewers.I hate to hear that because the show is really returning to old form. The departed viewers are missing some great T.V.

Is it possible to tell whether or not the "help me" was TOQ's voice?? Or anyone else's for that matter?? It seems kind of like something from CSI.... but maybe there's a way to do some kind of comparison or something. Being able to say whether or not Jacob's voice was or was not Locke's would be help a lot of us with our theorizing.

I'm assuming you mean the very audible "help me" just as Locke is about to leave the house. If so, I can play around with it and see if it sounds like anyone familiar, but I don't have any fancy voice matching software like we see on 24!

Okay the first whisper transcript is posted i from The man behind the curtain n the Whispers and Hidden Audio #2 thread in General Theories. It's the scene at night where Ben runs up to the sonic fence and sees his mom:

I thought they said Carlton did a voice in the finale, not in TMBTC.

That means that the smoke Monster was trying to take Locke to Jacob when it tried to drag lock underground in Exodus Part 2?

Thanks everyone, its my pleasure to post the transcripts!

That means that the smoke Monster was trying to take Locke to Jacob when it tried to drag lock underground in Exodus Part 2?

Quite possible, though I wonder why smokey never tried again to take Locke. Smokey certainly had the opportunity to confront Locke in the jungle.

Thanks for the new transcript, Pen!

Hmm, can anyone confirm what was said in the podcast? Just had a quick listen to the Help Me voice in TMBTC and it doesn't really sound like Carlton.

Carlton Cuse (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Carlton_Cuse): There will not be any fake Hanso commercials this year.
Damon Lindelof (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Damon_Lindelof): Lord I hope not. Alright...
Carlton Cuse (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Carlton_Cuse): However you may hear my voice.
Damon Lindelof (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Damon_Lindelof): That's sort of conclusively, yeah you might hear some voice cameos in the finale this year its pretty exciting.
Carlton Cuse (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Carlton_Cuse): I know, you might even hear Damon's voice somewhere in the finale.
Damon Lindelof (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Damon_Lindelof): Keep your eyes peeled for that. For the melodic, harmonious tones of me.
Carlton Cuse (http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Carlton_Cuse): And me, in the finale.

I'm a little confused here. This says that they may speak in the finale. Where did Cameron say he was the voice of Jacob?

Sorry, that was my point. That was all they ever said about the voice overs. They are in the finale; ergo, neither one actually was the voice of Jacob.

Thanks for clearing that up JennyLee. It's not surprising to me that things get taken as fact when these threads have as much activity as they do. I don't know where the comment about Carlton being the voice originated, and I guess it doesn't really matter anyhow. Eventually we will find out, right? :)
