The scene with Alex popping up and giving Locke the gun (since he was "going to see Jacob, he'd need it") was a great surprise. Ben looked shocked. What might Alex know about Jacob? Was the gun given to Locke, as she knew that Ben would kill Locke somewhere during their journey?

I think Alex has father issues , which is what to be expected considering that her father is Ben. I sure Alex seen a lot on that island. So my question is, was the the gun Alex gave Locke for his own protection from Ben, or did she give Locke the gun to put Jacob out of his misery? ..Jacob seem to have ask for Locke's help. He/ or Ben said "Help me". I love the "Happy birthday, Dad", after Alex gave Locke the gun.

My assumption, based on the final scene in which Ben shoots Locke, is that Alex gave Locke the gun because she knew Ben would double-cross Locke. Based on his facial expressions, Ben seemed to realize why Alex gave Locke the gun. The "Happy Birthday" line is really twisted when you think about it. Great stuff.

I can't decide which I think at this point. At first I thought it was for Locke's protection, but after ruminating on what kind of "help" Jacob needs maybe it was to put him out of his misery. Is he being held hostage in his own body, or in that cabin?

I think she gave him the gun to protect himself. Too bad he wasn't as quick on the draw as Ben.

I bet Locke isn't the only one Ben took to see Jacob and didn't come back. Obviously there's a lack of trust between Ben and Alex. He may have said Jacob killed the people. . .but Alex didn't believe him.

Well...She's not really Ben's daughter, is she...unless we are to believe that the Alex we've been shown is NOT actually related to Rousseau...and it's just a coincidence that Danielle and Ben selected the same first name for their separate "daughters"?

Or...

Are we to believe Rousseau's story of being shipwrecked in the first place? That she was forced to kill her whole team...including her husband...the "real" father of Alex?

Isn't it possible Rousseau was a Hostie, too...who hooked up with Ben after the purge? And Rousseau possibly became disillusioned with the Hostiles ways after Alex's birth and exiled herself...or betrayed Ben and was exiled by the Hosties? Wouldn't it be interesting to find out that Rousseau had the same strange "branding" mark on her body somewhere that Juliette does? Hmmmmm?

If so...how is it Rousseau is still alive...after giving birth to her?...If Ben IS the "real" father and she was conceived "on island"?

After re-reading this post...I realize I'm just posting questions!!!! This episode has me freakin confused as hell!!

If you look closely at the skeletons under Locke in the mass grave, there is clearly a bullet hole in the skull of one of them. Seems to me that the Dharma people that were gassed wouldn't need to be shot in the head too.

I believe that Alex is Danielle daughter who was stolen by Ben. But Ben raise Alex as his own..making her issues with Ben, "Father issues". I know Alex believe that her mother died when she was born..but exactly did Ben tell her?

While it would be interesting, I do not think Danielle is a hostile, nor do I think she hook up with Ben. Alex was conceive off the island. ( Remember, anyone who conceive on the island dies) . If Danielle had an affair with Ben, she would have recognize him.

I don't get that whole Alex scene. To me it doesn't make sense. Why would Ben just stand there like an idiot and say or do nothing at all? Alex has went against her father before, but to give a loaded weapon to someone from the other side(someone that probably hates her father), just seems too out there.

The irony in the scene is that it's likely that Ben pulled that gun from Locke's pants and then proceeded to shoot him.

Where did Alex get the gun from? The best she could come up with in an earlier episode was a slingshot.

Between his daddy and his daughter, you'd think that, by now, Ben would rather OVERLOOK his birthday! :10:

It seems that the vast majority of Dharma people were killed by the gas, but perhaps in order to gain entry into the camp before the gas could be released, a few people had to be shot first.
