Weve seen in the past that Ben tricked Locke into blowing up the Submarine inorder in keep people on the island. I think the revelation that Ben used to be a member of Dharma shows that he knew about the Swan and he knew it would cut communication off from the outside world. Probably already speculated but now theres more proof.
