I mean, they will release the DVDs this summer, and unless they want to cast Jacob as someone else during the summer, he is staying looking like that... at least until someone else plays him and we learn otherwise.

he was visible for a handful of frames in last night's episode. He was shadowed and you can't really make out a lot of features, but he's there!

Yes. But so what? I could really care less as long as the story is interesting. We're talking about less than 5 frames of on-screen time. If they cast the character with a good actor next season, why would you possibly care that the less than a full second version has been replaced?

I read someplace,that Jacob is supposed to be portrayed by the magnificent Ron Perlman!I can't say i didnt jump for joy,as i literally love this actor!
I also think that in TMBTC and the quick glimpse we got ourselves of Jacob,he was really reminiscent of Jamey Sheridan Sheridan picture (http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/3/3a/200px-FlaggMovieSheridan.jpg)

Now wait, how do we know that? He might actually be invisible, right? There's lots of discussion of the island being invisible, so why not a person on the island? That would mean he does actually have a "physical presence," it just can't generally seen be seen. The only "evidence" we have that Jacob is a spirit or other sort of non-corporeal entity is discussion here on the 'Lage. Nothing in the show said that. In fact, the fact that there were shots of his profile and eye suggest that he does have a tangible physical form.

Because as SJB pointed out, when the S3 DVDs come out, fans will be able to obsess over those 11 frames of Jacob's shadowy profile, as well as the eyeshot. If he's not cast, at least, with someone with a sloping brow, receding hairline, bulbous nose, beard, and brown eyes with hooded tear ducts, even more fans will be PO'd than would be now.

i hope we will see him season 4 for at least 5 full minutes:)

Jacobs brief appearence certainly was intriguing, though I doubt that the stand-in that was used for the brief flash of him will be the guy who actually plays him in future episodes. If we ever physically see him again, mind you.
