Does it seem like a reference to the Pink Floyd hammers from The Wall?

Yeah, it definitely didn't look anything like The Wall.

it had Chines or Korean writing above each of the hammers

The writing wasn't Korean, it was either Chinese or the Japanese alphabet that's based on Chinese.

However in the 1980s skinhead groups under the name "hammer skins" used that logo. I remember that from an episode of 20/20.

At first I thought it was a reference to West Ham at first but then realised no self respecting mancunian would be caught dead (pun unintended) in a West Ham shirt.

It's Chinese. "Courage and Faith" according to my wife.
