View Full Version : Charlie and Claire
jennylee27 05-17-2007, 12:13 AM Alright, even as a non-PBJer, I absolutely loved their scenes together tonight. The scenes with Aaron touching Charlie's face were also incredibly moving.
But seriously, he tells Aaron and Hurley he loves them, but not Claire?! Come on!
Lunch 05-17-2007, 12:19 AM Oh my... I had strayed from the peanut butter when it got to be so drama-ridden, but this was absolutely adorable and hearbreaking at the same time.
I knew he wasn't going to say "I love you" to Claire- he didn't even write it in the note! (Even though the night he met Claire was #1 on the list... yes, I cried). But, anyway, that's just one of the reasons why he can't die.
LostLaura 05-17-2007, 12:20 AM Yeah, I was really sad that he didn't Claire that he loves her.
And how cute was the scene where they met the first night??? How he notices how pretty she is right away and kind of puffs up his chest and takes down his hood so he can go talk to her. Adorable.
Especially funny since he flirted with SHANNON first in S1. lol.
Save The Humans 05-17-2007, 12:26 AM THEY KISSED.
Geez. What IS it with people who don't believe someone loves someone unless they actually SAY THE WORDS?!
First Kate. Then Charlie. Guess Alex doesn't love Karl, either, since all she did was kiss him.
Good grief!
jennylee27 05-17-2007, 12:28 AM Well, I didn't say I don't believe him, did I? I just think it would have been lovely to hear it. I was also 100% convinced in I Do that Kate said she loved James, just not out loud.
Anyway, about the flashback of when they met, was that a deleted scene? Or they filmed it anew and made it look like S1? I thought the continuity seemed very good, although I'm no expert.
pacejunkie 05-17-2007, 12:29 AM So much to say about Charlie and Claire. Funny to realize he was probably high when he first met Claire which may explain why he was so charming. Hee.
I thought it was very telling that he could easily tell Aaron and Hurley that he loves them but not Claire. That's scary. That's a whole different level of love and he knows it. Plus, like he told her to not worry about him, he probably didn't want to burden her with that confession right before he may never see her again. I think he kept his feelings to himself for her sake. Just another one of his sacrifices, like not telling Claire that Desmond saw him die. I was actually hoping she would know that he wouldn't be back but it was still sad enough that we knew it, and so did Charlie.
I was actually surprised the farewell kiss was not that "hot and heavy" as we thought it would be. I hope it leaves the door open for a future between them. How anyone can see this episode and not be a C/C shipper is beyond me.

I was really hesitant about watching this eppy tonight, but I'm so glad I did. My word, I was dying when Aaron was tickling Charlie's face, reaching out to him with those tiny, adorable, pudgy baby fingers. Precious and just absolutely perfect.
I think Charlie is afraid to say those 3 little words to the person he cares most about in the world; then again, Claire is also afraid of expressing herself to the person (besides Aaron) she cares most about. At first, she kind of got defensive when she asked him about why he was going to the hatch - it was her way of being worried. She pursed her lips and nodded when Charlie asked her not to worry, but although she didn't say "Charlie, I'm worried", clearly she was. Poor C/C - they feel so much that they are afraid. I think each knows how the other feels, though. That kiss......so sweet and gentle. They have this angelic glow about them; it sounds cheesy, but there is some serious light radiating from this couple when they are together - they are golden. That scene after the crash - loved it!
I pretty much bawled when I saw that Charlie was writing that note to Claire, imagining how distraught Claire would be if Des ever showed that to her.
pacejunkie 05-17-2007, 12:39 AM I think Claire seemed to be on the verge of tears when he asked her not to worry about him. She was fighting to hold it together. It wouldn't have been appropriate for him to tell her he loved her at that moment. It wouldn't have been fair to her. But to see them together and it can't be denied. I'm hoping like mad we'll see them reunite eventually.
jennylee27 05-17-2007, 12:44 AM I was feeling emotional then too, but of course hubby was just talking and talking. Seriously. He may be banned from watching with me next week!!!!
Anyhoo, I'm really hoping this leaves the door opened for more time for them. They MUST reunite! And I see what you are all saying about him not burdening her by saying he loves her. At the same time, it could have made her feel safer in a way. Well, we shall see...
Tater Salad 05-17-2007, 12:48 AM Claire should really be featured more in LOST. She is much prettier than Kate and tonight that really showed. She was looking stunningly beautiful!! Wow!
pacejunkie 05-17-2007, 12:49 AM I think his way of making her feel safe was in the earlier scene when he promised her it would be okay and that he would protect her. He knows that by going on this mission and assuring she gets off the island, he is keeping his promise.
Betsy 05-17-2007, 12:55 AM I just loved how Charlie seemed almost.......ready to die, as long as he knew that Claire and Aaron were rescued. That's what is most heartwrenching to me - if Charlie dies, even if Claire and turniphead are rescued, really - what kind of life is she going to have? I don't mean it because she needs a man, but her whole life has been about abandonment and she's had to learn to trust Charlie twice. Once, after the crash, and then again after she lost her memories. It would be plain mean-spirited for the writers to do this to Claire -and, frankly, to Charlie. I don't care about Jack/Kate/Sawyer - enough already with the cats in heat.
I don't think Claire will ever be given a storyline, and I will never believe anything any of TPTB say about her potential airtime. They dropped the Jack/Claire story like a hot potato; somehow, I doubt we'll be going back to that anytime soon. It's because of how the writers have completely mishandled Claire that I am extremely cynical about Lost now.
pacejunkie 05-17-2007, 12:57 AM Aw Betsy, please don't be that way. I understand you want more for Claire but just this once, bask in their love. The greatest couple on Lost.
Betsy 05-17-2007, 01:05 AM You're right Pace, tonight is not the night. In fact, I think before I go to bed (which has to be now), I'm going to rewind and watch C/C again. I'll do that also tomorrow and the next day.........I'm so proud of Charlie; he's such a hero, so brave. I love that little hobbit.

*hugs* There you go. Now go forth and rewind. *pets Charlie and Claire*
Selene1212 05-17-2007, 01:12 AM I was actually surprised the farewell kiss was not that "hot and heavy" as we thought it would be. I hope it leaves the door open for a future between them. How anyone can see this episode and not be a C/C shipper is beyond me.Yeah, I guess that was Dom's idea of a joke in Kristin's interview.
I was feeling emotional then too, but of course hubby was just talking and talking. Seriously. He may be banned from watching with me next week!!!!Funny you should say that, my husband was loudly crunching chips through much of the episode.
Diesels Blitz 05-17-2007, 01:16 AM I really enjoyed the Charlie and Claire scenes tonight, and I'm not even a huge C/C shipper. I hope everything works out and they both get to raise Aaron together in their own home someday.
verily 05-17-2007, 01:29 AM I was truly madly deeply unabashedly ANNOYED that all we got was a teensy kiss. I realize it's more realistic considering how slowly they've progressed in their relationship, but c'mon! The rest of the PB&J moments were pure and utter angst. Though it was really sad that Charlie would do anything to protect Claire and Aaron...including getting himself nearly killed twice.
I seriously hope Charlie makes it so that we can have a reunion.
lostmio 05-17-2007, 01:54 AM I was truly madly deeply unabashedly ANNOYED that all we got was a teensy kiss..
Imho as a non-shipper, that tender, lingering, sincere kiss expressed waaay more than the much ballyhooed cage and tent confused lust we saw awhile back.
lostfan4ever 05-17-2007, 02:07 AM It doesn't feel like C/C have reached their peak yet. I really hope Charlie survives the finale and we get to see a reunion. Who knows, maybe the previously described "hot and heavy" just hasn't happened yet? I hope!
Netta 05-17-2007, 02:20 AM Well here's the thing.
Charlie doesn't have to tell Claire that he loves her. When she finds out what he's done for her and Aaron, she'll know. Charlie has been there for her from the beginning..and even though they had their extremely rough patches, Charlie kept going back for more, despite Claire's frigid response to his advances at first. If that doesn't say he loves her, I dunno what does.
Also..we have to remember..it's probably better that Charlie didn't tell her. Why burden her with that knowledge?...And then do what everyone else in her life has done? Leave her. Sure it was for a greater purpose, but that doesn't mean it would hurt any less.
I was pleased with everything this episode. Even the kiss. I think it was better that it was a soft and gentle kiss...rather than hot and heavy. I'll take an gentle loving kiss from the both of them any day over that lusty crap Kate and Sawyer are up to. But that's just me.
I especially liked how he wouldn't allow Desmond to take the burden for him. It was a show of him stepping up and taking responsibility for his FAMILY.
Bravo, Charlie. You were at your best this episode.

As a shipper from the beginning, I totally agree! I posted some of my excitement on the PB&J thread, but all I can say is I thought they were perfect!! I couldn't have asked for anything better. This episode really reminded me why I love them so much! They're love and concern for each other is so obvious and perfect. They really are a sweet little family.
QueenLizzie13 05-17-2007, 03:14 AM I definitely ship PB&J or C/C however you want to call it now. Before I was only Kate and Jack but now....Charlie and Claire have my vote.
lostfan4ever 05-17-2007, 03:18 AM Yay! This eppy is creating new shippers. If only Charlie survives for us to enjoy them more next year.
Krystal 05-17-2007, 03:32 AM Imho as a non-shipper, that tender, lingering, sincere kiss expressed waaay more than the much ballyhooed cage and tent confused lust we saw awhile back.
I couldn't agree more. I would rather see the genuine, honest and heartfelt love from Charlie to Claire and vice versa then some forced kiss/sex or as you so aptly put it, lust, coming from a certain other pair. Watching Charlie with Claire and Aaron made me smile for the first time in a long time and I'm not even a shipper of those two.
Alright, even as a non-PBJer, I absolutely loved their scenes together tonight. The scenes with Aaron touching Charlie's face were also incredibly moving.

Just a very silly thought. Could Charlie be Aaron's father? Was one of the two blondes in bed with Charlie Claire? The ring in the crib, left for his son?
schoff 05-17-2007, 04:28 AM Funny to realize he was probably high when he first met Claire which may explain why he was so charming.
My heart broke when he tried in vain to make himself more presentable.
My word, I was dying when Aaron was tickling Charlie's face, reaching out to him with those tiny, adorable, pudgy baby fingers. Precious and just absolutely perfect.
When Charlie closed his eyes, I could just feel the pain in him.
That kiss......so sweet and gentle. They have this angelic glow about them; it sounds cheesy, but there is some serious light radiating from this couple when they are together - they are golden.
Dom does the most amazing ad lib things. S2 had him playing with her fingers. This time he rubbed her nose. AAGH. My mom's diabetic. I had to make sure she didn't fall into a coma.
Though it was really sad that Charlie would do anything to protect Claire and Aaron...including getting himself nearly killed twice.
God. I swear that was the hardest part, next to Liam's little family speech and "my sorry excuse for a life." That Charlie loves Claire so much he'd do anything for her - including willingly die.
do_it_for_johnny 05-17-2007, 05:10 AM THEY KISSED.
Geez. What IS it with people who don't believe someone loves someone unless they actually SAY THE WORDS?!
well, if you think you're about to die then yes, i'd expect you'd verbalize your feelings. especially since he hasn't said it before....but i'm not complaining about that scene, it was perfect as it was.
Betsy 05-17-2007, 08:55 AM For Claire and Charlie, that kiss was relatively "hot and heavy", lol, so Dom was telling the truth. If Charlie dies in the finale, though, IMO - it all means nothing. I guess we'll know next week - I'll be on vacation, but I'm sure Charlie's fate will be all over the entertainment section of the newspapers, so I'll find out without even having watched.
RodimusBen 05-17-2007, 09:01 AM I was thinking that Charlie should have gotten some bow-chicka-bow-bow before he headed off to his doom, but there wasn't enough time. Anyway, it looks like he got enough nookie during his Drive Shaft years for a lifetime.

I know! Another threesome. Get in there! Maybe that'll be Charlies way of getting out of the sticky situation hes in now with the hatch girls.
Personally I really wanted to see more emotion from Claire. She let Charlie go too easily for my liking. Rose showed her up. But I did LOVE the first meeting, especially the cute touch of Charlie pulling his hood down. He was totally smitten.
pacejunkie 05-17-2007, 09:50 AM What was telling about that first meeting with Claire was how different it was from every other encounter Charlie had at that time with women. We saw him hit on Kate, on Shannon and brag to both of them about his band. Then he met Claire and it was all about her, reassuring her that rescue would come, giving her a blanket. Even though he may have been on smack at the time, he was genuine with her. She was the only one he never bragged about his band with or tried to hit on.
do_it_for_johnny 05-17-2007, 02:56 PM But I did LOVE the first meeting, especially the cute touch of Charlie pulling his hood down. He was totally smitten.
totally.... and the fact that he loved her at first sight even when she was pregnant just tops it off. oh Charlie....
