View Full Version : Twin Peaks
Walter Russ 05-17-2007, 01:10 AM John, if you look close during the flashback scene, you can see both the Log Lady and the Dancing Little Person from the Black Lodge.
What did you put in those brownies John??? Everything I'm thinking is being posted on the internet.

MPmom 05-17-2007, 02:27 AM Huh?
Who is John? What log lady and dancing little person? And what is the Black Lodge?
I think I want some of those brownies.
Baileysdad 05-17-2007, 02:30 AM Can you fill us all in on what you are talking about??
Flotsam 05-17-2007, 03:55 AM I have no idea who John is, but oddly enough the rest of that made sense.
Failed to notice "Twin Peaks" in the background. Will re-watch.
For those who are unfamiliar, "Twin Peaks" was a fun, twisted TV show on ABC in the early '90s, produced by David Lynch. It helped pave the way for shows like "Lost" ever existing. The Log Lady and the Man From Another Place were two of the best characters in television history. (The Man From Another Place was a little man who spoke backward, and danced to jazz music under strobe light in the Lodge. The Log Lady was a disturbed middle-aged woman who carried a log that spoke to her.)
longdong 05-17-2007, 04:07 AM So is this non-seqitur thread started by David Lynch? He's got a twisted mind.
Flotsam 05-17-2007, 04:08 AM ...come to think of it... (spoiler alert for those who haven't watched the whole Twin Peaks series...)
The series ended with Agent Dale Cooper looking into a mirror (a lookingglass) and seeing Killer Bob reflected back at him. The Black Lodge (where the "good" Dale had disappeared) was accessed through a sort of "hatch" -- a circle of trees -- in the woods. Hmmm...
That was such an awesome series. I wish it wasn't cancelled; imagine if Lost was cancelled after the second season. Twin Peaks was the beginning; there would most definitely not be a Lost if it wasn't for that show and Lynch's spectacular mind.

Weird. I didn't see the Log Lady or the Little Person. I think I know where YOU put those brownies.
NapTime 05-17-2007, 06:38 PM I posted on another thread that every time I hear the name Annie I think of the final scene of Twin Peaks.
"How's Annie? How's Annie?"
I do think there are a lot of correlations, though. But I'm so relieved that ABC didn't decide to cut Lost off like they did to Twin Peaks!
Milgram Experiment 05-17-2007, 06:40 PM Screenshots please.
Screenshots please.
There are none.
Flotsam 05-18-2007, 01:17 AM Unfortunately, someone (Walter Russ) was apparently high. "Twin Peaks" was not playing in the background at any time during Charlie's flashbacks.
Woulda' been cool, though.
In "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" Sarah Palmer had a vision of a white horse standing at the foot of her bed. --Any relation to Kate's horse? (Okay, I'm stretching things here. Sorry.)
Eight 05-18-2007, 01:27 PM I just want to chime in that I was a huge TP fan. I think the reason it got cancelled was that people wanted a definitive answer as to who killed LP -- instant gratification. They didn't want to be patient and let the mystery unfold.
Anyway, one of the characters from Lost has a strong resemblence to one from TP. Patchy/Mikhail looks like the conman/jailbird (I think his name was Hank Jennings) from TP who got out of jail. He was married to the lady from the diner, who's name escapes me now.
***Update***
The Actor was Chris Mulkey who played Hank Jennings

Noble Savage 05-18-2007, 01:39 PM Eight, actually the actor who played that "jailbird" character was Chris Mulkey, who appeared in the Lost episode "Further Instructions" as the guy running the pot commune.
craw_daddy 05-18-2007, 02:41 PM As soon as I saw the flashes of Jacob last week, the first thought that jumped into my mind was how much he looked (at least on my 3d world cable) like Bob from Twin Peaks.
Flotsam 05-19-2007, 05:17 AM Mikhail (of "Lost") VS Nadine Hurley (of "Twin Peaks"):
Which of these monocular hulks would win a wrestling match?
(My money is on Nadine!)
*******
Eight -- I was totally stoked to see Chris Mulkey in that episode of "Lost".
Honestly, as big a fan as I was of "Twin Peaks" -- I own both seasons and the prequal film on DVD -- when the murder of Laura Palmer was solved -- okay, maybe long before the murder of Laura Palmer was solved -- the soap opera elements of the show became entirely too silly.
My two cents: If the show had remained focused on fewer characters and the mysteries surrounding the town of Twin Peaks and its connections to the Lodges, the show might have continued indefinitely.
Chris Mulkey is a cool actor and all, but his character (Hank Jennings) was distracting to me. Here's a short list of characters I think the show could have survived (better) without:
Benjamin Horne, Donna Hayward, Shelly Johnson, Bobby Briggs (except in relation to his father), James Hurley, Leo Johnson, Catherine Martell, Mike Nelson, Hank Jennings, DICK TREMAYNE, JOHN JUSTICE WHEELER, Harold Smith, "LITTLE NICKY" NEEDLEMAN.
Sorry if I was a bit emphatic about a few of those names.
Had the writers re-written the remaining characters to fit into the spiritual / multidimensional aspects of the show, and kept characters like Pete Martell, Lucy Moran and Dep. Andy Brennan around for brief comic relief, I truly think that "Twin Peaks" would have lasted at least two more seasons.
*spit* "That's DAMN good coffee.... and HOT!"
