Plus, we also see an alternate widmore building/charlie playing the guitar scene.
What's the connection?

are you suggesting that Charlie knocking Desmond out had something to do with him not appearing in Charlie's street busking scene? that's a pretty exotic theory. I'd like to think so, but I have my doubts even the Lost writers are that good.

Oh, I am exceedingly confident that the LOST writers are that good...

I'm just not sure that I will be able to understand it...;)

Good catch! Des gets whacked in the bar, Charlie whacks him with the oar . . . maybe Des will stop having flashes?

Desmond's going back again. Guaranteed.

How do you think Penny knows where to look, or, rather, what to look for?

I mentioned him getting whacked and losing his "visions" in another thread. I really think this will happen because it will get old if he always has these flashes throughout the entire series. Then again he could always have someone whack him in the head to get his flashes back.

Wow, that would be cool, I never thought of that. Although I don't know if it would be good or bad for the losties if Desmond lost his flashes. I'm sure he would be happier though.

LOL! Well, if he could have flashes about what the Others were up to or something that would help the Losties, then that would be ok. How about he has a "I know what the smoke monster is" flash and put us all out of our misery. ;)

I was thinking the same thing. I totally agree!

Good thought, could well be something in that. On another note, how many knock-out blows have been administered to Losties by fellow Losties at this stage? I'm no medical expert, but isn't striking someone with enough force to knock them out at least as likely to cause fatal injury or permanent damage?

ok Des is knocked out right??? Whats going to happen to him? Arent the others going to run into him when they come to the camp??

Also: according to rumors, the Looking Glass blows up. Is it gonna blow up Des as well??

remember everyone, Des' vision ability didn't come by being bonked on the head, it was by being caught in the hatch implosion/meltdown. Sure, him getting hit in the alternate flashback with the bat brought him back to the "present" but I don't think that a bop on the head will be enough to stop the visions...

Besides, if he loses his visions, Charlies dead for sure.

I like that.

What I liked was Charlie telling him "You and I both know you're not supposed to take my place, brotha" after he whacked him.

By the way, I don't think Charlie's busking flashback was an altered version of the one in Desmond's episode. Charlie was probably out there every day, and it does tend to rain in England.

Suppose he'll wake up in the boat and be naked again?

I think there are some comparis n photos up on the easter eggs board showing that these are different events. Charlie's wearing different clothes, and although similar, the locations are different. Different shops, etc. Plus the crowd was smaller. It's just odd that the writers chose to have him play the same song, finish and get rained on. Seems like a clue, but based on info above, probably just an evil red herring.

As for Desmond getting knocked unconscious but not dangerously so, eh. It's just one of those dumb conventions on TV. Anyone can knock anyone else out instantaneously with no permanent damage as long as the other guy doesn't see it coming.

I read a statistic once that 3 out of 4 resuscitation attempts on tv are successful, whereas the real-world success rate is more like 1 in 10...TV is just silly like that.

Very true, I was thinking, if Charlie cracked one of Desmondo's teeth on this island that could be a death sentence (Broken teeth are likely to get infected, limited medical supplies of the losties + lack of dental instruments [fortunatly they have a dentist though] = painful and eventual death).

I hope charlie didn't whack him to hard that it shook his brain and made him lose his psychic abilities

I'm not sure what I am suggesting to be honest with you. I just notice some parallel in the 2 situations. I was hoping someone would spark something. I have no real theory behind it.
I hate to love this show...and I leave Wednesday morning for a 3 week tour in Japan. I have to wait till I come home on June 16th to catch up with you guys. See ya then.
