View Full Version : Best Lines
Captain_Falafel 05-17-2007, 05:56 AM No best lines thread yet? Here we go...
Bernard: "You want me to hit anymore?"
Sayid: "No. You've made your point." - hehe! love Sayid
Rose: "I like you since you've come back Jack. You're almost an optomist."
Charlie: "I was the junior swimming champion of the Northwest. I can hold my breath for 4 minutes" - coolest lie Charlie ever told!
Nadia: "You are a hero, sir. Don't let anyone ever tell you different."
Damian254 05-17-2007, 07:25 AM My fav of the night was Juliette to Carl ... 'they know already, but thanks Carl.'
ame en peine 05-17-2007, 08:11 AM When Charlie said "I love you" to Aaron, and Aaron was touching his face as if to say - don't go... stay with me and play a while...
Charlie: "I was the junior swimming champion of the Northwest. I can hold my breath for 4 minutes" - coolest lie Charlie ever told!
I got the funny idea he was replaying the Shelly Winters line from the original Poseiden Adventure..
pacejunkie 05-17-2007, 08:16 AM Charlie: "I was the junior swimming champion of the Northwest. I can hold my breath for 4 minutes" - coolest lie Charlie ever told!
Charlie still proves he's a convincing liar. I also liked when Desmond asked him later, so how long can you hold your breath under water? And Charlie said, "Does it matter?" :frown:
Also, I loved Liam's speech when he gave him the ring about how Charlie's going to get married and have kids and Liam won't make it to thirty. Ironic.
carodeluxe 05-17-2007, 08:20 AM Charlie: "I was the junior swimming champion of the Northwest. I can hold my breath for 4 minutes" - coolest lie Charlie ever told!
This is possibly a reference to a very similar line by Shelley Winters in the original version of The Poseidon Adventure right before her character went on a similar "suicide mission" that involved rescuing someone trapped underwater. The character did indeed survive, but then died of a heart attack.
100%
When Charlie said "I love you" to Aaron, and Aaron was touching his face as if to say - don't go... stay with me and play a while...
I got the funny idea he was replaying the Shelly Winters line from the original Poseiden Adventure..
Oh snap, you beat me!
ame en peine 05-17-2007, 08:30 AM Sorry carodeluxe! But you included all the fun trivia, so giving you your snap back.. ;)
The character did indeed survive, but then died of a heart attack.Oh, yuk. I forgot about how that scene played out. She makes it but she doesn't. :frown:
Remus Lupin 05-17-2007, 08:35 AM Rose: "I like you better now that you're back, Jack: you're almost an optimist."
Bernard: "How did you do that?!"
Rose: "Watch and learn, dear. Watch and learn."
Bernard: "You want me to hit anymore?"
Sayid: "No, you've made your point." :24: That was really great! And Bernard's a great shot, no wonder that he's one of the snipers.
And of course, Liam's speech! That was so great and emotional. Neil Hopkins is too good for reality!
workingmom 05-17-2007, 11:18 AM When Charlie said "I love you" to Aaron, and Aaron was touching his face as if to say - don't go... stay with me and play a while... I loved that scene, although Aaron forgot to deliver his lines. ;)
I got the funny idea he was replaying the Shelly Winters line from the original Poseiden Adventure.. What a cool allusion. Yes, even the non-athletic types can come through and save the day.
My favorite line was Sayid to Jack: "If you're angry, & I don't doubt it, I'll be happy to make a sincere apology later."
Charlie after whacking Des: You and I both know you're not supposed to take my place, brotha.
South Shore 05-17-2007, 11:21 AM Hurley: " . . . I'm sick of trekking . . . explosions"
Aggie00 05-17-2007, 11:27 AM Rose to Bernard:
"If you are going to be hiding in the grass, let's get you something darker to wear!"
Loved it.
Noble Savage 05-17-2007, 11:28 AM Naomi: "You havin' a laugh?" Anyone watch "Extras"? They should've cast Ricky Gervais as the parachutist.
abbybaby 05-17-2007, 11:29 AM My fav of the night was Juliette to Carl ... 'they know already, but thanks Carl.'
My Fav too! That was hysterical!
And Charlies and Hurleys Bromance I love yous to each other. I had my own flashbacks of them in the Dharma Van together racing down the hill. Love those 2 !
jennylee27 05-17-2007, 11:30 AM And of course, Liam's speech! That was so great and emotional. Neil Hopkins is too good for reality!
I thought for sure you'd be in to his description of Finland! I thought of you.
Some great lines already listed. I also liked Hurley's line at the boat, "Whatever, I love you too." Awww!
nextone 05-17-2007, 11:34 AM The last like that Karl says just before the commercial break, something like
"THEIR COMING!" I cant remember the ling but he said/yelled it with such gusto, I lol'ed.
TheDome 05-17-2007, 11:35 AM "These the birds from row 2? Well done baby brother..."
"You and I both know you're not supposed to take my place, brother."
"You told us you are our leader, its time to start acting like one. Lead the people to the radio tower Jack, and take us all home."
Edit: Not really a line, but the look that Sayid gave Jack when Jack asked how he would get back out after flipping the switch. He was ready to put it all on the line there just like Charlie was, and he's obviously ready to do it anyway being as he stays back as one of the shooters.
Captain_Falafel 05-17-2007, 11:39 AM And of course, Liam's speech! That was so great and emotional. Neil Hopkins is too good for reality!
Neil was brilliant in both his scenes. Loved seeing the sweeter side of Liam. He always gets great lines - "Are these the birds from row 2? Well done, mate." snork!
Two more Charlie lines that I loved -
"Yeah, yeah, swim into a hatch, flip a switch...piece of cake."
"Excuse me while I have a heart attack. I haven't been in a fight since I was 8...and I lost."
molly1977 05-17-2007, 11:45 AM Charlie's "I love you" to Aaron. Cried and cried at that one.
Hurley's "Whatever man, I love you too"
Liam's speech about the ring
Charlie's "why does everything always have to be a secret" or something like that. It is like he was voicing the viewers thoughts
mackej 05-17-2007, 11:55 AM Not really a quote, but I CRACKED up when Karl was giving them the gun and Hurley jump out of the way and went "whooaaa, dude..." Everyone one else was just standing still...... I don't know why this CRACKED me up so much!
mikey_mike 05-17-2007, 12:19 PM its not entirely a funny line but Jorge's delivery was spot on. Charlie tells him that he is too fat for the boat. Hurley turns away muttering "not cool dude".
I laughed mostly because he was right and also because I knew Charlie would make ammends. These guys have a chemistry as actors. They make a scene work well.
lockesmithe 05-17-2007, 01:07 PM My fav of the night was Juliette to Carl ... 'they know already, but thanks Carl.'
A very funny delivery of this line by Elizabeth Mitchell.
NikkiNap 05-17-2007, 03:12 PM The last like that Karl says just before the commercial break, something like
"THEIR COMING!" I cant remember the ling but he said/yelled it with such gusto, I lol'ed.
Hahaha, yeah! "They're coming NOW!" It was so over-the-top and drama-queenish that I laughed, too, and wondered (not for the first time) how Alex ended up with this guy - they're so not alike!
mikey_mike 05-17-2007, 03:23 PM also at the very beginning...
Charlie: ...so many secrets. We need more openness around here
Hurley: We kept the parachute girl a secret
Charlie: Yeh but that was different
Kate: How was that different?
Also the first meeting with Chaz and Claire
Charlie: So, your first plane crash?
Claire: What gave it away
Charlie: I can always spot the newbies.
Claudia815 05-17-2007, 03:25 PM Nothing can surpass the awesomeness of Charlie and Hurley's manlove declaration.
Especially Hurley's: "Yeah, love ya too, whatever..." :lol2:
But I also loved Jack's line: "For 90 days I've been asked to make decisions for this entire camp. There. I just made one." :jack:
And Rose whipping both doctors (Jack and Bernard). :whip: She was awesome.
Remus Lupin 05-17-2007, 04:00 PM I thought for sure you'd be in to his description of Finland! I thought of you.
Aww, thanks! I LOVED that one. When Charlie said "Helsinki", I jumped and cheered and listened to it like five times! TV shows never have anything to do with Finland and that annoys me, so THANK YOU, LOST!!
hiccup 05-17-2007, 05:28 PM I really hate being obvious, but I have to go with Jack's "blowing them all to hell" line! It was, very simply, quite satisfying.
Cheers--
*hiccup*
South Shore 05-17-2007, 05:39 PM also at the very beginning...
Charlie: ...so many secrets. We need more openness around here
Hurley: We kept the parachute girl a secret
Charlie: Yeh but that was different
Kate: How was that different?
The part that really made me laugh followed this directly, when Charlie replied "But we weren't playing football with them".
EXACTLY!!
Captain_Falafel 05-17-2007, 05:47 PM Aww, thanks! I LOVED that one. When Charlie said "Helsinki", I jumped and cheered and listened to it like five times! TV shows never have anything to do with Finland and that annoys me, so THANK YOU, LOST!!
I got lovely rushes when Charlie spoke about the Night and Day Bar! Thats where my friends band started gigging in Manchester! And DS playing in Clitheroe made me feel fuzzy too! Thats right near where my boyfriends folks live and yeah...it is the back end of nowhere.
jontarbox 05-17-2007, 05:48 PM Best line was Charlie to Claire " I can always spot the newbies"
Ladybug_ocean 05-17-2007, 09:41 PM Neil was brilliant in both his scenes. Loved seeing the sweeter side of Liam. He always gets great lines - "Are these the birds from row 2? Well done, mate." snork!
"Excuse me while I have a heart attack. I haven't been in a fight since I was 8...and I lost."
Those were both great. I really loved all of Charlie's "greatest hits" last night. And his I love you's to Aaron and Hurley.
Aww, thanks! I LOVED that one. When Charlie said "Helsinki", I jumped and cheered and listened to it like five times! TV shows never have anything to do with Finland and that annoys me, so THANK YOU, LOST!!
It's funny, I JUST finished watching the epi again and then turned on the travel channel and it's Passport to Europe: Helsinki. And there was a shot of someone dressed up as Father Christmas in a sleigh. Weird!
berit 05-17-2007, 09:58 PM Naomi: "You havin' a laugh?" Anyone watch "Extras"? They should've cast Ricky Gervais as the parachutist.
Exactly! I was dying laughing!
amathews99 05-17-2007, 10:27 PM I thought the whole scene with Charlie and Hurley was great. I mean, you think Charlie's going to tell him that he can't go because it's his (Charlie's) destiny or something. But no, Charlie says, "You're too big! You won't fit in the boat!" I'm sorry, that was funny!
RedwoodAcresTrophyGirl 05-17-2007, 10:43 PM This episode was provided some quality one-liners, but my favorite was when Karl produces the gun, and Hurley busts out with, "Whoooa, dude"...classic.
SomethingWonderful 05-17-2007, 10:56 PM Absolutely the best line in this episode, in fact THE BEST LINE IN HISTORY OF ALL LOST EPISODES, was Charlie speculating on where Jack was taking them and says, "Why does everything have to be such a secret...how 'bout some openess for a change."
Love it, love it, love it! How many times I am aggrevated to death by these characters inability to tell the other what is going on...I know, I know, a necessary convention of writing, suspense, story progression, yada, yada....but at least the writers covered the most gaping hole in entire Lost franchise by this one, most excellent line by Charlie. Kudos!
wsprag 05-17-2007, 10:57 PM My fav of the night was Juliette to Carl ... 'they know already, but thanks Carl.'
yes, I agree. That was a cool line.
Bluemorbo 05-18-2007, 11:57 AM I got lovely rushes when Charlie spoke about the Night and Day Bar! Thats where my friends band started gigging in Manchester! And DS playing in Clitheroe made me feel fuzzy too! Thats right near where my boyfriends folks live and yeah...it is the back end of nowhere.
lol, I live near Clitheroe, it's not that bad :P
Captain_Falafel 05-18-2007, 12:52 PM lol, I live near Clitheroe, it's not that bad :P
Oh, I like Clitheroe, but it's very...erm...quaint. Not the sort of place you would go to launch your rock career. I think Charlies actual words were "Arse end of nowhere"
Tarkus 05-18-2007, 01:35 PM "I like you better since you've come back, Jack. You're almost an optimist."
The wife and I cracked up over that one.
It was good to see Rose and Bernard again.
tribbles 05-18-2007, 01:44 PM I really hate being obvious, but I have to go with Jack's "blowing them all to hell" line! It was, very simply, quite satisfying.
That was my favourite line, too. Finally, Jack is back... The angry and decisive and cool Jack, not the whiny and bitchy Jack. :)
maverick06 05-18-2007, 02:07 PM alright, Im going to just put it out there as a line that made me laugh even though it shouldnt have.
when jack said "Sun's gong down in about an hour"
Cbarth 05-18-2007, 04:02 PM Not really a line, more like a scene, but I really liked it when Sayed tackled Karl on the beach. Awsome! Sayed is the guy I want next to me when I go off and fight the Others!
lostinlaf 06-14-2007, 12:05 PM Ben to Alex: "Here's your gun back." Especially with the blood on her hands from tearin up his white rabbit!. And the arrows he shot at her with his glare were priceless.
