Given the information we now have about the Looking Glass station, is it possible that it has something to do with the still-unexplained incident with Locke emerging wet from the dock in Otherville?
Obviously it's too far for him to have taken the sub to the Looking Glass, swam back and blow up the end of the dock. But perhaps he was able to put the sub on auto-pilot, like it was pre-programmed to return to the Looking Glass, then bailed out into the water as it was submering?

I think Locke was wet because he attached explosives to the outside of the submarine that night as well as the inside.

I would have agreed except for the fact that the producers keep bringing up that scene in the official Lost podcasts. And when asked if Locke really blew up the sub, they said "no comment."

I still think Locke was able to use the equipment onboard the sub and gather some information regarding docking, possible underwater entrances to the island, or just a general bearing sweep (i made that up) but you get the idea! As far as the explosion is concerned, I personally don't think Locke would need to attach the C4 on the outside of the hull. An explosion from the inside would be devistating enough to cause the sub to be blown to bits. I do believe there is more to that story, for Locke is a man of mystery and nobody can tell him what he can't do. Besides, he showed no hesistation upon entering the sub, that's gotta say something about his character and the sub.

Just a reminder, anything discussion from a podcast should be spoiler fonted to not spoil those who wish to see it unfold on the episodes...thanks.

Why would he bother?

An explosion inside the sub doesn't guarantee it will breach the hull. Subs actually have more then one layer of 'skin'. And all he had was some dynamite, which vs. a sub hull structure = you'll need some luck.
It's not like he was blowing up a mailbox.

Locke was wet because after rigging the C4 he felt all stinky and sweaty and took a dip to cool off. ;)
